The newest Gopher signee
Today's pioneer press reported that it will be announced soon that Holy Angels' forward Jay Barriball has committed to play for the 'U' beginning with the 2007-2008 season.

I'd like to say congrats to him, he is a fun player to watch, and I think after his senior season at AHA plus a year of juniors he will fit right in with the Gophers.

Re: The newest Gopher signee
David Fischer of Apple Valley has also recently committed to the Gophers.

I cant wait to watch the gophers these up incomming years...they are going to be a very young/deep squad...hopefully most will stay the full 4 years...with the exception of kessel and wheeler...you could have one hell of a "freshmen" line with kessel wheeler and stoa...cant wait

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... eyMan05 at: 7/21/05 11:39 pm

jay barriball
After seeing him play last year, he is absolutely a fun talent to watch. Considering his size, he is like a more skilled Evan Kauffman. He has great hands and always moves his feet. He is the Martin St. Louis of minnesota high school hockey. I wish him all the best in the next few years, and cant wait to watch the gophs the upcoming years.

Further, does anyone know the low down on Taylor Mattson, of where he may go following this year? Perhaps juniors for his senior year? Any colleges interested in him at this point? Is Jaskowiak staying at Benilde this year?

Barriball
Awsome.

Wow
This is pretty impressive for Holy Angels as well as Greg Trebil and Guy Olson. Think of all the players they had that will be playing for the 'U': Nate Hagemo, Jeff Frazee, Erik Johnson, Jay Barriball, Mike Carmen, that is a very impressive list, then throw in Jimmy Kilpatrick and Jack Hillan at CC, now that is really something.

Re: Jaskowiak
Gopher10, while there is a whole different post for transfer stuff, I thought somewhere in one of these dialogues it was mentioned that Jaskowiak was not playing for Benilde next season. But, I can't recall where it was suggested he was going...perhaps someone knows what school he has been skating with over the summer.

Re: jaskowiak
shp55 your right.

what a great job by Holy angels.
They are recruiting way better than the other private schools, with Breck coming in second. So are they the New York Yankees of Minnesota high school hockey?

yea dude they forsure recruit..... i am not about to get into this recruiting shpeel, but there was an investigation done and they were found to have not recruited. AHA has built such a strong reputation that all the good players want to go there, and theres no other reason than that.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... 5>SHP55 at: 7/24/05 4:50 pm

Re: spare me
It's nice that the U, and other D-1 schools are getting these high quality players from AHA. My only question is.........Where are they all really from? What youth program is responsible for the developement of these kids? Not a slam on the Recruiting, but when you only mention where they played there High School hockey, kind of takes away from where they lived and grew up? Anyone help?

Re: spare me
I'm not 100% sure on these, so anyone feel free to correct me.

Erik Johnson-Jefferson
Nate Hagemo-Edina
Michael Carman-Eastview
Jay Barriball-Prior Lake or Lakeville?

Re: spare me
no... you got it all wrong... they all came from the Minnesota Elite HS league.... Without that they'd all be wallowing in the NAHL

;-)
