I think if Sauk Rapids not gna take it this year you have to think bout Duluth Denfeld they have a great core of guys returning this year so i think they could be the Sleeper this year. As For SCC they lost to much to contend with the Powerhouse DM and SR

SR is much better than you guys know they returned all their Offense and r getting better on D And Lochner improved from a 5.56 GAA to a 2.50 GAA So that means SR is doing something Right!!!!!!! They are deeper in Depth than Any Section 2A team and I think This years team resembles the State Tournement Team of 2000. Dont get me wrong its not gna be easy DM is A strong Team AGIAN!!!!!!

Duluth Denfeld is returning lots of scoring and leif melby of duluth east transfered so now denfeld will have a great goal tender.

Does anyone know how good Leif will be? Do you know what his stats were coming up to this season? Did he play any varsity for Duluth East b4 transfering?

Comparisons

Who's the strongest at the positions? I have:

Goalie:
SCC and DM tied with Hess/Russell at SCC, Paul at DM. Nobody comes close in the section.

Defense:
SCC has four good D, with Crandall probably leading the charge. DM will be strong there as usual, but perhaps not strong enough in front of Paul if he gets shaky. I give SCC #1, DM #2

Offense:
Sauk Rapids is probably one of the strongest in the section, then DM, which is followed by Denfield then SCC (which requires points from their defense more so than the other three).

If it comes down to O v. D, then it still comes down to DM, SCC, SR and DD owning the section, and the playoffs will be intense.

scottparker, what is your take on leif the transfer goaltender to duluth denfeld? I also agree with who you think is the strongets at the positions.

If he's good, then that'll help DD a lot. I know they will be stong on the offensive side, but not as strong defensively. Goaltending is going to be more important than for many years, but SCC has the D to play against, and in my opinion, two of the three top goalies in the section.

A quick check on Leif showed that he played in two games last year (Anoka and Central); I thought he did okay in those games. I might have missed one as I did a quick scan on Edd's site.

I think he'll help Denfeld. Would rather have seen him end up at Central, of course

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005

Lee,

You are correct, Leif played 2. Did Sall graduate? If so that makes Ben Leis the starter, whether or not Leif was going to stay....perhaps why Leif transferred? I have watched Ben a few times. Nice size and did a pretty good job from what I was able to observe.

Good question....I have nothing against Leif Melby, but how do you get to be ranked #4 goalie in the state when you only played 2 varsity games last year?
