re:
i agree that it is weird to not see sacchetti on the list being he led the tournament in scoring. two other names i wouldve expected would make it is nick jaskowiak, who i believe was 2nd in scoring for defenseman, and anthony decenzo who had 6 points. white only had 2 points in the whole thing and ended up being one of the lower scoring minnesotans.

Re: re:
I agree with the questions regarding the scoring leaders but I would think the selections would be based on more information than the stats we can see. Too bad they don't post +/-, or draws won and lost, or leadership, or bench attitude. Things we will never know but are important in forming a team. Anyway, I suppose we should be happy the team is has as many MN players that it does.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... oorrink at: 7/7/05 7:30 pm

Re: re:U17 Nationals
I've seen both Ellingson and Patterson play. Patterson will make his share of forwards want to cry. My bet is Patterson will post stronger stats than Ellingson at the nationals.

I agree that it is odd Nick J. isn't on the roster. A fine defenseman.

Politics will ALWAYS be a part of this type of selection process. Nothing we can do about it, just work harder and smarter and something positive will always come out of it. But to those who make it, good for you.

Re: Iceburg
Has the USDTP from Ann Arbor officially listed their rosters anywhere? Has anyone seen the official roster and tell me how many Minnesotans are going there this year? USAhockey.com does not have anything listed yet.

Re: NTDP
I think this is the list at this point. Only Fairchild and Vargas as locals on next year's team. Looks like they need a couple more forwards. They've had probably more kids turn them down this year than any other.

Forwards (10):
Matt Rust
Ryan Hayes
John Albert
James Van Riemsdyk
Brennan Vargas
Mike Cieslak
Ryan Schnell
Richard Manley
Justin Vaive
C.J. Re: NTDP
This roster was on the "USA Hockey" site. One of the forwards added is Philip McRae. He's the son of former North Star Basil McRae and is the only '90 on the team.

No.
15 John Albert Forward
24 David Kolomatis Defense
25 Colby Cohen Defense
28 Ian Cole Defense
33 Josh Unice Goalie
39 Brad Phillips Goalie
44 Joseph Lavin Defense
45 Mike Cieslak Forward
46 Kevin Shattenkirk Defense
54 Teddy Ruth Defense
56 Ryan Schnell Forward
61 James vanRiemsdyk Forward
66 Justin Vaive Forward
81 Richard Manley Forward
88 C.J. Severyn Forward
89 Brennan Vargas Forward
91 Ryan Hayes Forward
97 Cade Fairchild Defense
98 Matt Rust Forward
72 Colin Wilson Forward
51 A.J. Sturges Defense
94 Philip McRae Forward

Re: NTDP
Congratulations to all the MN boys. Jake Johnson was one of the best kids on the ice and clearly the best MN kid out there. Sounds like the other MN boys faired OK but were overshadowed by some of the others (Hayes, Durham, Serratone, Vrolyk, Diamond....) Goes to show that there is some awful good talent coming from other parts of the country. Big accomplishment just to get there. Way to go boys!

why not Nico
Saw Saccetti (sp) play in Duluth during the 89 tourney held Mars/Lakeview the weekend of the 14th. Was impressed with his ability but was unimpressed by his lack of sportsmanship. He speared two of our players in the first period, one he speared in the back after the kid picked his pocket and the second he pitchforked after one of our D stopped him on a 1 on 1. The second one he skated up to the kid behind the play waited for the ref to look away and gave him a spear to the ribs. Both plays against him were totally clean and easy, he just looked bad getting beat by them, after all he's awesome. After the first period he came by our box, I told him "I saw both spears and if I saw another one, I would send a player out to run a stick through him", he said "Bring it on" and my comment was "You don't understand; I'm not joking". He pretty much kept to himself the rest of the game. I know there are bleeding hearts out there that will say I was over the line threatening one of Minnesota's up and coming, but you know what, he got the message. We lost 6 - 4 in a well played clean game other than his first period antics. Maybe that's why USA Hockey passed on him, he isn't a class act....

ben arnt is the kid to be watching out for, remember he was the second top freshmen in the state last year in scoring and he isone hell of a nice kid.

mn boys
the mn boys had a great showing in the five nations tournament in switzerland they were led by mike hoeffel of hill murray and jake johnson of duluth denfeld each tied for 2nd on the team in pts with 5. Pat white of grand rapids played well too he got 1 goal and 1 assist. i believe nico sacchetti and nick jaskowiak should have been on this team also and that would have gotten all the top mn players that had a shot at making this team but 6 mn kids on a 20 player team id say thats a real good showing for our state.

Re: 2005 United States Under-17 Select Team
Sachetti didn't make the team because he has turned down Ann Arbor to play all of his time in high school. He doesn't need Ann Arbor because if he could, he would have a full ride to a lot of D1 schools as a sophomore. He will either be a Bulldog or a Gopher. Can't wait for the Virginia vs Hibbing matchup this year. We will really see how the two up and coming players look.

Re: 2005 United States Under-17 Select Team
So, are you saying all the other Minnesota boys on this team have been asked...and accepted the invitation...to play in Ann Arbor?
