I'd agree with Barriball. Or Tony Cloud- ER

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

I did see Josh Levine this summer at a hockey camp. I don't know if he is the fastest, but he impressed the heck out of me. That kid is an awesome player.

I'd gotta say John Loquai... he played for Red Wing back in 02 then left his senior year to play in Waterloo then Fairbanks. Now he's a speed skater, training for the Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I personally think Josh Levine is a heck of a player.. and fast.. but I don't think he would even make the Top 10 for fastest players..

Good Topic But...

Speed and which is the most important type of speed is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Are you referring to top speed, acceleration, cornering speed, quickness, or one of the multiple other unique facets of speed?

Players like Levine, Barriball and many others have unique assets in regard to speed that appeal differently to different people. The different types of speed as they unfold in distinct environments like rink, team, system and league will have radically different impacts on a player's overall value.

This is a fun topic because it can accomodate so many different points of view and opinions. For anyone to say something like this player or that player wouldn't make "my" top 10 is both interesting and irrelevant at the same time.

I like all of the players mentioned in this thread for different reasons when it comes to being "fast."

Bookhout21.. good post,
That being said, i would have to completely agree with you. Many players are good and succussful for many different reasons. and there are different forms of speed. I take back my statement about Levine.

Jake Johnson from Duluth Denfeld has a high gear also for a young player.

Also Senior foward Dustin Potter from Hibbing has great speed. He can beat most defensemen into the offensive corners. He also uses his speed on the back-check very well to stop many scoring chances.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... AHockey at: 9/26/05 7:53 pm

its true ive seen this kid out on the ponds, if he can build on what he had last year, he'll be a kid to watch. on a side note i regret to inform the hokcey community that local legend patrick flemming has decided to hang up his skates and call it quits.
