Jay Barriball
I was looking at the Sioux Falls Stampede box score from tonights game (October 15) against the Chigago Steel and in the Stampede's 3-1 win Barriball had 2 goals and an assist. He also played in last nights game (October 14) but he was held scoreless. I've been looking at these box scores every weekend when they've had a game and this is the first time I've seen him on their roster. Is he leaving AHA to play juniors all year or just going there for the fall then back to AHA for the high school season and then back once again to Sioux Falls for the spring?
Maybe the Gophers want him next year already?

What about the Elite League?
First of all I think that Jay is doing the right thing, the USHL is a much higher level of competition then the Elite League.

My question is when did Hartzell and Sarner change their opinion on the USHL versus the Elite League. They have both been very vocal on their belief that the Elite League is where the Minnesota kids should play.

Hartzell's "theory" changed when he took over the head coaching job for the Stampede.

Re: What about the Elite League?
He also has said that he wants to do right by the Elite League with Barriball. Don't know if any games were missed by Jay in the Elite League this weekend or not, I think he's taking the next 2 weekends off here, playing the weekend of 11/4 & 11/5 and then done until his high school season is over.

Not sure how familiar many of you are with some of the former Shattuck players, but Barriball reminds me a lot of Jacob Micflikier in the way he skates & the way the puck seems to find his stick.

The Elite League is an excellent choice for the player that doesn’t want to leave high school early to play Juniors. I guess I don’t understand why Barriball would be staying at Holy Angels for another year, instead of moving on to the USHL. It certainly sounds like he can compete or is the USHL now at the same level of a top AA Minnesota team?

Barribal Staying at AHA
Why not? He's already signed his scholarship intent to the 'U'. Why not enjoy being a senior in high school?

Jay is a captain of his hockey team, and I know for a fact that he does not want to leave them when he has been named their captain. He wants to lead them to the state tournament for a fifth consecutive year. He also wants to graduate from AHA. And don't say well he could come back after juniors and get his diploma because I know that, that is an option but he does not want to do it that way I believe.

Re: Jay Bariball
I agree, enjoy your senior year... And I am sure he will. He is looking to head back to the dance for a fourth year and has a good shot at being Mr. Hockey, except that he is a private school kid. Jay always smiles and has good words for most people, I hope he does well. I will be watching this year....
________________________________
Academy of Holy Angels
2005 GIRLS STATE CHAMPS!
2002 & 2005 BOYS STATE CHAMPS!!
GO STARS!!
