south saint paul winning without mike pilot

Post by gophers10 »

even though they lost all-conference mike pilot, the packers have a very young and talented group of guys coming up from jv or bantem. it will be interesting how much they can progress through out the year. what you think?

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... phers10 at: 10/31/05 9:30 pm

south saint paul "winning" without mike pilot

They only won six games last year with him. Pilot's a good player, but a great example that it takes more than just one good player to win in this sport. SSP has a lot of holes to fill. the returning players need to show improvement, cuz it's hard for a bunch of sophomores to step up and win at the varsity level right out of bantams, and if they had much talent at the JV level last year, they should have been playing varsity cuz the team didn't have much.

I hope SSP has a good year, I like the tradition and I'd like to see them succeed, but I think they've got a long road ahead of them.

Isn't Pilot from Inver Grove Heights?

I'm just wondering how many kids will be on the roster from other towns, to continue the "Tradition".

Just like the girls team that was so successful.

Yes, Pilot is from Inver Grove Heights. In recent years, from my understanding, there have been 4-5 Inver Grove Heights kids on the team on average. Pilot is the only real standout I know of.

As for South St. Paul winning without him, their young team is still a year away from being back above .500. I don't really see what Mike Pilot has to do with it, he played on one of the best SSP teams in the last 10 years in 2004 and by far the worst in 2005. I don't think he can take too much of the credit or blame for either of those seasons that the TEAM had.

Does anyone know how he is doing this year? I heard he was in the USHL but don't know what team he is playing for?

no need to worry

Mike Pilot isn't going to matter much. They won't get out of sections. No way they can handle Lourdes or St. Thomas Academy. Also you can count the group from bantams out. I played there bantam B team last year and we beat them 9-0 and the bantam a team walked all over them with a 7-1 win. Unless you have a good JV team don't count on a good season.
