Mullet,
You must be crazy to put Eveleth in the top ten and not include Warroad in there! Eveleth will not even be the top in their section. They don't have a chance.

Is Mike Forney from TRF going to play in the USHL next year?

The way I remember it was East won 7-2 and oh yeah thats actually what it was. And oh yeah East only lost 3 starters out of the top 13 skaters and bring back an all big 9 goalie. Austin has 1 great player in Kirby, and 2 decent goalies. Isakson is a good goalie but not as good as Olson, and hes gonna have to play about like kangas did this past year for west to have any shot of being anything in 1A.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... nwild10 at: 5/28/05 5:49 pm

Rankings

Post by bear11 »

I think that you have to put Warroad #1 - Until you beat the champion they are still #1. Thief River Falls has a chance to be A top 5 team in the state - the one thing they are in big time need of is Goaltending. They only lose basically 1 player in Alec Holen. They have 10 of their top 12 forwards back and 5 of their top 6 defenseman. If they can find some goaltending they will be a very tough team. They beat Blake and Totino Grace last year and they should only be better. Blake-Breck-Totino Grace-Hermantown-Warroad-Thief River Falls-Duluth Marshall-Virginia will all be top 10 teams.

RochHockeyDad,
I couldn't help but notice that you had Hibbing ranked at 13th on your first list, then 7th on your revised list. Perhaps reading the info on Hibbing and what they lost at the link at the end of my post will change your mind. I'm not posting here to criticize, but to inform you. I will post my list when the dust settles with all of the player transfers and such. In my opinion there are more than a couple teams that will rank well ahead of Hibbing out of that section.

www.section7hockey.com
Scroll down a hair and click on "7A 2005-2006 Preview"

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... kRanger at: 6/15/05 2:27 am

Warroad

Post by WarroadWarrior »

Warroad will be lucky to be a top 10 team next year. They lose the majority of their big guns. Their Bantam Team wasn't Stellar last year, at least not stellar enought to replace the boys that left.

Warroad could get out of the section if......
1. Potts steps up to the plate and plays well. could happen.
2. This year's 9th graders step up the way the seniors did when they were 1st year HS. The kids I hear that might transfer will be 10th grade also.
3. TRF continues to choke.
4. Last year's bantams beat TRF 12 to 0 in TRF and beat EFG 18 t0 1 at home. The only competition they have in section 8 class A. They were also 2 goals from going to state.
We will just have to see if Denny and Albert can work their magic. Don't give up just yet.

The Bantam team not stellar last season? What planet are you on? To set you straight they were the LAST class A team playing in the state. They lost 2 - 0 to Duluth East actually outshooting them 45 to 20 just missing advancing to the state tourney. The only real trouble they had up here was Roseau and Moorhead both AA schools. In fact, the only class A loss they had was a 4 - 3 loss at EGF where one of the EGF parents reffed the game and made sure EGF won it even though they were outshot 2 to 1 and made sure Warroad lost the Fair Play point to keep it close in the standings. Ask Elliott70 what a magnificient job Buzz Olson did covering for his homer buddy Vizenor. In fact, heres Minnesota Hockey politics for you at its worst when at Select 16's Kody Vizenor from EGF was taken instead of Sam Carr from Roseau. Carr a last season varsity player for the Rams was toying with kids out there head and shoulders better but the Select 16 coach was who? That's right....Jimmy Scanlan a guy I had some respect for until that blatant show of homerism. But the Warroad boys turned it around on the EGF boys with a 18 to 1 shellacking in Warroad and then beating them twice more culminating in the District Championship with a 6 - 0 spanking. Granted Bryce is done after his snowmobile accident but I think you'll see at least four players from that Bantam team make a legitmate contribution to the Varsity next season. I see Scannie and Bergie RUNNING for cover when this group is Seniors as they're going to steam roll Section 8. Thank God Buzz retired as we'll never have to see his punk kid screw up a title game again. See where daddy's can get you but you still have to perform when your there.

BigBubbas top ten is the most accurate one I've seen thus far, the only comment I have is drop LOW you can put a fork in that program for at least five years if the Clark's make the switch. With them their competitive nothing more.

Renegade - When you say Bryce was hurt in a snowmobile accident do you mean Bryce Ravendalen (spelling?). If so what happened to him to say that he is done playing hockey? I sure hope this is not true as Bryce is a great kid. Thanks

re:LOW

Post by BigBubba004 »

If that's true about the Clark's I agree LOW will take a big hit and drop out of the top twenty. Also,I mistakenly had BSM listed, they're now AA. Take out those 2 teams
and put in Virginia. A number of other teams could sneak into the top twenty including Austin and Mankato East.
Unfortunately the privates will dominate the top ten
again next year, especially if Warroad and TRF don't live up to their reputations. Hermantown is the only real solid pick for public schools in the top ten. Warroad is questionable and losing Forney would hurt TRF.
We could be looking at 7 of the top 8 in 'A' being privates.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ubba004 at: 6/2/05 7:06 pm

injury

Post by Renegade Ram »

Well in talking with his dad, he said the surgery was successful. He mentioned something about stainless mesh and metal bands and some fusing. If anything the earliest you'll see him try anything is after the first of the year, that is if he can get clearance. The doctor explained that the injury he sustained had a 97% fatality/complete paralysis rate at time of incident so we're all very happy that he is able to be walking around school with just a neck brace now. I believe the accident took place the free weekend after the Selects try-out the details I have is he was spending the weekend with his mom and was snowmobiling with a friend tried to ease himself down a hill with a sled which rolled so it wasn't a high speed goof and he drove himself from Pine Island back to the Wigwam and complained about neck pain. So from the sounds of it he is a very lucky young man. Whether he plays again or not right now is anybodies guess.

i notice that no one has put Virginia in the top ten while hibbing and hermantown have made almost everyone. I dont know if people have any idea about this section but if looked into I would say they are the obvious favorites for the section and now have 15 returning starters with state tournament experience under their belt and I would count on seeing them ending up in the top 5 for class A

I am a huge Blue Devils fan myself, but I don't think there really is anyone we could say our boys will end up Top 5 in Class A. After struggling through nerves at state, they probably won't get much of a chance for very high rankings. It is true they'll be at the top contending for the 7A spot, as most of the other 7A powers lost key players as well.

top A

Post by EAGLEMOM »

Saw someone pick TG, they had 11 seniors last year, and 2 of them where their goalies. They had a talented group of Juniors, but the Sophomore goalies will have to really step up over the summer with training to repeat the team's success of '05. (Zero Varsity playing time.)

Good Luck.

Looks like Blake has the best chance to come out of Section 5A. Just coming out of this section to make it to state takes a great team.

austin?

Post by flicker4 »

austin may have a good team next year but from the games that i have watched they are not very consistant. The can play with the best of them but they can also lose like the rest of them....

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... licker4 at: 6/21/05 6:49 pm

Ya they did lose some good players, but did anyone see what their B-squad team did last year? They lost 2 games and they were to moorhead and duluth east. Hibbing is going to surprise some people this year. Don't be baffled if they make it back to the state tourny this year. Mark my word.
