Maybe Hibbing will have to recruit some more people like Poderzay and Potter from other teams on the range like they did last year...

on top of that all, Hermantown's Bantam A team last year went to regions and I believe Hibbing's Bantam A team DID NOT. On top of that, Hermantown's JV Team finished 19-2 while Hibbing's JV team was just above .500 or something close to there...

Hermantown is returning and bringing up more talant than Hibbing could ever dream of.... Sorry BlueJacket fans, looks like this year, the former DOUBLE A school will not win the SINGLE A section.

enough said..

Frozen Hibbing's JV team last year lost 2 games all year. They lost to moorhead and hastings 1-0. I do believe they beat Hermantowns JV team. Just what i recall tho. Hibbing is going to be able to run 4 lines this year with how much depth they have. Your right in saying last year they only had one line and not much support in back it up, but this year will be very different. They will have scoring punch from all lines. The varsity really only has about 3-4 spots open for new guys coming in. And for saying the goalies have no varsity experience?...that does not matter. Ya it helps but doesnt matter. Coming into my senoir year i only had one game under my belt and i did just fine. As i recall we beat Hermantown in the section finals. Hibbing is going to be just fine this year.

I have to agree with goalieman as far as the varsity experience and upcoming goaltenders on any team. It doesn't really matter. I am not saying experience isn't beneficial, but to place doubt on a team because the goalies haven't played at the varsity level much, well, let, let me tell you, it can backfire. Those unknowns sometimes turn out to be the best asset to a team.

hey frozen, I wouldnt b boasting of that Bantam "A" team of yours yet cuz Im from Virginias Bantam "A" team and I believe our record was 1-23-1 and guess where that tie was??? HERMANTOWN. Hibbing knocked us around 4 times, we tied Hermantown and lost to em by 2 once. Hibbings bantams were better so that wont influence your decision!

hermantown jv

Before everyone gets too excited about last year's Hermantown JV team losing only 2 games take a look at their schedule. These are not high quality JV teams: Duluth Central ---Eveleth-Gilbert--Proctor-- Princeton-- Superior-- Virginia-- Chisago Lakes --Duluth Marshall-- Mankato East --Park Rapids-- St Francis-- Duluth Denfeld International Falls-- Two Harbors --St Cloud Cathedral --Proctor-- Cloquet --Hibbing-- Silver Bay-- Duluth Central-- Red Wing-- Sauk Rapids-- Superior-- Lake of the Woods --International Falls

Infact, now that I reread the list , they sound even worse. Although i do give duluth central credit they did beat Chisholm

frozen has been tooting hermantowns horn since last year, im not saying hermantown wont be good this year, im sure they will be a solid team.. BUT if you think hibbing wont be a favorite to beat hermantown and take the section.. your saddly mistaken

Frozen, you are correct about the points hermantown is returning, but you forgot to look at hermantown's schedule. hibbing plays more double teams than hermantown, and though hibbing may not rack up the points against higher class teams, they do get a chance to play against stronger teams and get better as a team, which helps them in the long run. and about the goalie situation for hibbing, goalieman is right. just cause hibbing doesn't have a returning starting goalie doesn't mean they won't have a strong goalie. hibbing goalie marchuck is a strong goaltender, who has been working out the past few months, and was one who lead the jv team to only 2 losses on the season, a record against some good teams, along with goalie todd sandstrom who will compete for the starting spot.

I do not beleive JV teams can be compared or correlated to varsity teams. Most teams in 7A -with the exception of only a few- have most, if not all of their sophomores, juniors, and seniors on the varsity, essentially leaving JV to be mostly freshmen (or younger) and those other kids who would likely have been cut otherwise. There aren't numbers in the programs in this area to really make a fair comparison. Bantams are the feeder for many of these teams, not JV. So to say that so-and-so only lost 2 games in JV is really not proving much considering that many of the teams they beat had their best JV age players on the varsity.

Take Eveleth-Gilbert for example: Last year's varsity roster had more of the makings of a JV roster. 2 8th graders, 2 freshman, 8 sophomores, and 4 juniors. Doesn't leave much for the JV team does it?

all virginia and hermantown do is blow smoke about their teams.. mostly "frozen".. after nisky lead virginia to state last year, its going to be a long hard road to repeat.. hermantown has a good chance, along with hibbing

Elmnnotascout---I know you love to diss Virginia every chance you get but let's see----the true scouts loved the team----I think one of the players even got signed by an NHL team, but that player is over-rated and what do those scouts know anyway. They should be hanging out at the Ely Timberwolves games since I heard somewhere, they were going to take the section this year.
