is that an alternative to playing USHL? or will he return to the team who has his rights eventually in the USHL?

I think his plans are to go to Harvard, and the coach there has ties to Harvard, so thats why he is playing there.
-------------------

Catholics have churches, fat people have Wisconsin, and I have the Pawtucket Patriot brewery.- Peter Griffin

Isn't he the self important type with the dad who thinks his kid is "all world" caliber type next Wayne "Jetski" who ran out on his boys at Jag central? Not the Connelly type kid who stays with the club through thick and thin and tries to get the powder Blue Jags back to hockey utopia but "cut and runs" to greener pastures....fill us in shutout.

Jaskowiak

Post by hockeyxprt »

JLS, no I don't think your description fits with Jaskowiak. He is a good kid with good parents. I think the reason he came to Benilde was a combination of their acedemic program (he is actually a smart one) and the hockey coaching staff (namely Jack Blatherwick). When Blatherwick left the program last summer, it left Nick in kind of a tough spot. Had Blatherwick stayed, I am sure he would of still been playing for Benilde this year. In the bigger picture, why would a kid leave the Jefferson program for a school like Benilde? I think the reasons are pretty obvious. Its a great college prep school with a very good hockey program! If you had that opportunity, would you not want to take it?

Left BSM

Post by PAMESH »

One of the assistant coaches at BSM told me that when Nick J left BSM it was becaue his father wanted things done a certain way. As he described it "The tail wanting to wag the dog". Larry let him now he does things his way (another strong personality). Thus the two did part. He has been trained by Bobby Orr for years and they say that is why he chose to go out east. To be closer to him.

Better Off!

JLS81 - You are correct
Pamesh - You are correct
hockeyxpert - What are you smokin!

Jaskowiak went to Benilde because he could play Varsity at a young age due to the low level of competition in the tri-metro conference vs. the Lake. As soon as it was his time to be a veteran leader and give back to the younger players what had been given to him he left.

He limped back to Jefferson because he knew they were expected to have a good team this season and started the school year there. My reports were that every word out of his mouth refered to HIS future and that he did not have any team goals that even interested him. a couple of weeks before the season was going to begin he bolted again for greener pastures without even having the courtesy to let the coach or other teammated know what he was doing it. My personal feeling is that the Jags are better off with him gone, he is the type of player that could tear a team apart.

His dad is one of those parents that goes from parent to parent telling them each that there son is getting screwed and is not happy unless he is causing controversy. I have wondered whether this past practice had any bearing in the USNDP not offering him a spot in Ann Arbor. Because we all know he is Gods gift to hockey!

Jaskowiak is a great kid who has the best work ethic for a high school kid I have ever seen. I have a hard time seeing him tear a team apart.

shut out--

i agree with mnlight... nick's a good kid and wouldn't do anything to tear his team apart. he might seem a little "cocky" to some people.. but he can be because he is a great player. no need for the negetivity on this board.

as for jefferson, they're expected to have a great team this year with or without him. i wish him luck in CT and if the Harvard rumors are true, than best of luck with that too.

Opinions Vary

Post by shutout »

As with any subject on this board you will get varied opinions, but my reply to JLS81 is based on feedback from several players on this years varsity team and also several people that experienced his lack of team goals at Benilde.

One thing the people at Benilde pointed out was Nick always chasing the ref around after a goal and trying to get himself an assist and his dad yelling from the stands for Nick to get an assist added. Just one example of my point regarding ruining the chemistry of a team. I hope you would agree that would not be tolerated at Jefferson.

I'm sure he is a good person, but for the last 4 years i've heard nothing good about his Jimmy Piersall father. Hey Dad, how many 5'8" defensemen are in the NHL?
