Schroeder

Post by hockeydude18 » Sat Oct 29, 2005 10:21 pm

Schroeder deserves all the hype he's got right now. He's got all the tools to become one of the great players to come out of MN. If you've seen the kid play he has amazing ice sense, a great shot, great spead, and great hands. He keeps working he will tear up High School hockey his whole career, if he chooses to stay, but my guess is he will leave his sophmore or junior year.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ydude18 at: 10/29/05 10:23 pm

Jordan Schroeder is an extremely talented young hockey player and a lot of fun too watch. For those naysayers who want to say he is too small and won't do much against quality competition, I would suggest that you take a look at the Elite 1 final statistics and see that this young man finished second on his team (Southeast - which won the league tournament this past weekend and I believe they won the regular league title as well) in points and finished in the top 10 in assists - this being against supposedly the "best of the best" high school players all of which were older and bigger that the young Schroeder. I personally hope he stays in the MSHSL, but highly doubtful, as he is a treat to watch.

I'm sure Schroeder is a talented player but put him against a senior defensemen about 6'0" or more with considerably more bulk than him and see how well he does- this is exactly what happened during state last year and he wasn't quite the player that every thought he was. He can't put up with the physical part of the game being such an underclassman.

Oh yea! Put him against someone 4 years older than him, 50+ lbs heavier than him, and with 5+ years more skating experience than him! Hell! He ain't so good anymore!! Wait, ummm, no kidding, no one would be stand a chance against someone like that..... Besides, he was an 8th grader last year for god's sake. In MIDDLE SCHOOL most kids were dealing pee wee's or bantams, and this kid was kicking the crap outta some of the best programs and garnering all tournament team honors!!!

Not trying to rip the kid at all. But garnered all tourney honors because each team has to place at least one member on the team and being the eighth grader who played a good first round game he was chosen to represent St. Thomas (they call it media darling). If the team could be who played the best throughout the tourney he wouldn't have made it. I don't recall seeing him kick the crap outta any best program in the state. That said; he does definitely have skill and is a freshman right now. From your freshman year until you graduate several things can happen that can divert a young man from his goals....injury, girls, booze, drugs and plain old burnout can all happen. I would never wish that on any player but it is a fact of life. That is why the percentages of making it grow smaller at each level. I think anyone of us can name a young player who at one time or another was "the bomb" but something sidetracked him/her along the way. Hopefully, this young man can keep it together and find his path to success whether it be hockey or business. Because for everyone there comes a day when there IS life after hockey.

I can only hope the best for this program. I can remember a few years ago they had like 3 wins, nice turn around. It is hard not to cheer for these guys. Looks like they loaded the non-conference schedule this year. They will get tested early with two big section games. I like the call to get the tough games in. You can only see how you compare to the other good teams if you play them.

Nick larson is a pretty good player, he is small but he makes up for it in his play. he is a tough hard nosed kid that has finesse but also will go out there and hit you, woulda been nice if he stayed at EV, i know EV will notice him not bein there this season.

I guess i shouldnt think so LITTLE of schroeder, if he put up those numbers against those good teams, he must be the best hockey player in the state. except he did nothing against warroad, unless i was watching the wrong 5 footer i dont think he hardly touched the puck.
*WILD HOCKEY FAN FOREVER*

NOT THAT GOOD....

Post by Hill Alum » Fri Nov 25, 2005 3:59 pm

He is a non factor in a physical game... no question about it...sure any one can score against Sibley, Simly, Richfield, and NSP...what about Warroad, WBL, or HOLY ANGELS...I would give anything to see the kid play against MOOREHEAD last season...we wouldnt be talking about his future in hockey, he would be finished.....

Did Schroeder not have over 20 pts in the Elite League this fall? But that was no-check I suppose... I toast all the neanderthals. Must be the same guys with #3 on their trucks. Does anybody here know about Pepper Skytte? He transferred over to st. thomas from hill-murray this year. I'm just wondering if he made the team or not and if he did, how much of a role player will he be. I am just very interested in his situation, because if he is one of their better players then that might make the st. thomas v.s. hill-murray games much more exciting to watch.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ...
