I have never seen ssp play, and I assume they are a good team. I have seen wadena play and I don't think they get the credit they deserve on this board. I don't know if they will win or not, but this game is not a gimme for ssp. A handful of kids on this WDC team were the first WDC peewee team to go to a peewee state tournament a few years ago. I remember them beating warroad to get into the state peewee tournament. If memory serves they played moorhead to a 2-1 game either in that tournament or late in the season. I understand that was a few years ago and it was peewees, but this group of kids has been able to win when nobody thought they would.

That pee wee team was pretty good - but if I remember right - argueably the best kid on that team was Chris Peluso - who is now at Brainerd.

You are correct elliot70. He was on that team and he was the best player on it. That being said I still would not count this team out. I think they are very talented. I think as long as they realize that getting to state should not be the goal they could be a cinderalla team in A. I think that is why moorhead will be in the championship game on saturday. There was celabration when they won. No pictures, no victory lap no nothing. Getting to state is not moorhead goal.

I agree. I know several Moorhead players and their intent is not to get to the tourney but to win it. And they have the talent and the coaching. BUT not to get off this thread - I think Wadena has a good team but I don't know if they are as battle tested as the others. And that first game in the big tent can beoverwhelming - I am putting my monye on SSP.

I personally played against SSp this year in the classic suburban conference. If you look at our conference we have two teams in the state AA finals and ssp took 2nd in our conference. So that should tell you something. Also there hole scheldule is dominated by AA teams and take a lok at there record. We lost to them 8-2 and tied them 3-3 so they may over look WDC , also there junior goalie staylock is very solid but will play the puck way to much and could give u an easy goal, but he does have 8 assissts wow!! but the score will be 6-1 SSP

i agree with tenders. both of these two teams are underated, i think this actually should be the premier game in class A first round over warroad and orono. I like the records both teams have and the talent level of each school, regardless of competition they play. whoever shows up to play will win, and i think that will be ssp

SECOND QUATERFINAL GAME Wadena Deer Creek (26-1-0) Head Coach: Scott Woods 3rd year Strengths: The Wolverines have some great offensive power as well. They have put up some huge numbers this year. They have a very nic record to show as well only one loss is nothing to sneeze at either. WDC has 15 players in double digits for points on paper this team is very impressive. Timm and Miley the seniors have spilt time in the Nets and have done a very nice job as well. Weaknesses: On the Flip side of the great record and stats. The Wolverines play one of the weakest schedule's in the State. They have piled up some nice numbers but against some very weak oppenets. They have played no other teams in the state Tournament. The lack of a decent schedule will hurt them as in state you dont get weak teams and they will not be use to the level that some of the elite teams play at. Players to watch: Tyler Neu 67 points ans Andrew Murray 58 points to very good top notch senior forwards. Jascha Pettit 31 points very fun freshman watch him. On the D-side Kyle Dickhaus 42 points the senior has put big numbers up on the blueline. Kyle Timm 1.66 GAA senior has played big in the playoffs. VS. South St. Paul (22-5-1) Head Coach: Jeff Lagoo 5th year Stengths: SSP plays in very top notch conference that wills help them. They are basically a AA tema they play a AA schudle and were very sucessful if they would have stayed AA they proably would be going to State thier too. They have very good forwards and a real top nocth goalie. To back all that up they have the Best junior goalie in the state protecting the nets. This is my DARKHORSE for the State Title this year. Weaknesses: This team is very up and down they have been all year they have lost games to teams they shouldnt have lost to. They dont have the depth as some of the other teams in the tourny. I think the key is to attack there D hard with the forcheck they tend to throw the puck blindly some times. They key is to get out to a good start get on top and and continue to pressure them. Players to Watch: Mike Pilot 53 point and Alex Stalock 47 points 2 very good forwards who can put up points. Mark Bernier 36 points Top Notch D-man for SSP. Alex Stalcok 2.18 GAA top notch goalie can keep his team in the game by himself. PREDICTION: SSP wins 5-2 over WDC. WDC doesnt play a good enough schedule look for SSP to skate all over the Wolverines and win easlly. WELL I HOPE YOU LIEK MY PREVIEW!! South St. Paul Should win this game but if they overlook the kids from wadena and dont come out strong it could be a good game but if SSP comes out ready from the begining they will win. I am from Fergus falls and wish the Wolverines good luck and have some fun, its a blast.

WDC should be unpacking there clothes and staying home! they are going to get put away by SSP. When a team has an unreal couple pf lines and a stellar goalie and a few good D's to there isntt a chance that a teeam like wdc is going to win! 25-1 ha they played crap teams and now they are up against something they cant handle!! At 1st I would have like to seen SSP win it so they represent section 3A well as it has been for the past 2 years... but now after ssphockfans comments I just hope they get smoked. And as for people unpacking their clothes and staying home it should be the people from SSP because people with no class dont belong at the state tourney.

No class what so ever, personally I will hold nothing against the SSP team because of one idiotic fan, and I think the packers will win this game and possibly do more damage beyond wednesday, but ssphockfan you need to have some class, Wadena is a lot better than you think and this game will be close and if you win (which SSP should, and will i think) you wont sound near as cocky facing off against breck. Prediction SSP 4-1

wadena is for sure beatable. At 18 and 5 is ssp? We are pretty damn hummble and thankfull to get to the big show. And will bring our best game,i hope not all ssp fans are like you. Classless!

lol running time. sounds like someone cant complain about recruting on the wadena team so they go for the running time theory. I suspect it will be a very tough time for the wadena team but running time? we will save that post for the thursday crow eating feast.Wadena won a few this year against crookston,fergus,hallock, humm did the rams?

It wont be running time because SSP only has a couple players that score all their goals... I dont think Wadena can win this game, but if it gets to running time I blame the wadena coaches because they definately have the players to match up well enough with ssp to keep the game close...

As for your winning a few talk about beating the bottom feeders of 8A and a down Fergus in your laughably easy Section 4A. Those boys are going to pucker up and "skate like a bunch of tight butted white boys" like Nancy used to say, when they get to the Excel. They will finally find out what it's like to play a REAL team, that plays a REAL schedule, and will do REAL bad. alright u sissy's i am here to say something!! if you go to a hockey game to watch it are you going to be agaisnt the other team??? are you going to yell at the refs if they make a bad call?? well if not dont watch hockey i call my self ssphockfan because i hold grudges against other teams and there fans!!! so grow up @#%$'s and smell the hockey equipment!!!

ssphockfan- You should stop posting on here, you are embarrasing yourself and the South St. Paul community... Most of us have respect for the city of SSP and their hockey team dont ruin it... There are other ways to express your opinions about hockey then bash those who you dont agree with.
