SCC vs Hibbing

Post by breakaway66 »

I think cathedral's first line will have to shadow hibbings first line and make sure they dont get any quality scoring opportunities and let the other lines do the scoring. Rindalaub has been playing extremely well and is one of the better goalies at state.

i will pick scc over hibbing 4-2<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... kaway66 at: 3/7/04 4:37 pm

When the Walters are on the ice SCC will have to play a forward high in the offensive zone and the D will have to give them room or the W boys will be by (bye) 'em.

SCC vs Hibbing Preview!!

Post by DB33Three »

Fourth Quarterfinal Game
Hibbing (11-14-1)
Head Coach: Mark DeCenzo 11th year

Strengths: The Bluejackets have a big adavantage because they were in The State Tourny last year. Most of the players on this Hibbing squad have experienced the Excel Energy Center and will not be scared. Hibbing also plays a real good brand of tough Northern Hockey. They hit you every play and they finish there checks. They also have played a real good tough schedule all year. They are playing their best hockey right now and much of that has to be a credited to DeCenzo he is a heck of a coach and will have a good plan ready. He is also a great in game coach he will make the changes necessary for Hibbing to get the win.

Weaknesses: A weakness has to be depth this team does not have the depth as others do. The reason they have won in the playoffs is because there 2nd and 3rd line have played great defensive hockey. Earlier in the year they were getting killed because of the lack of depth. They also lack the speed that some metro schools may have. You need to skate hard and draw penalties yes Hibbing will take penalties. Get them in the box and take advantage on the powerplay.

Key Players: Walters brothers have a total of 104 points together they are the heart and soul of this team they are really talented fast kids. Derek Lundquist 22 points the junior d-man has really come into his own as the season has worn on he is their #1 D as a junior. Brennan Poderzay the junior wont play but the is a real good goaltender. Trenberth is the key the senior has been solid in the playoffs they will need him to play big to have a shot.

VS.

St. Cloud Cathedral
Head Coach: Jonathan Voss 1st year

Strengths: This team is in the State Tourny because of their special teams. They have a very hard and aggressive penalty kill they have the ability to score short handed goals. Their powerplay is a real treat to watch if you haven't watched these guys before the one thing that will stand out is their powerplay. Most of the guys who are on the powerplay have been playing together for at least 2 or 3 years now. If the other team takes a penalty the Crusaders will most likely take advantage on the scoreboard. SCC also is a great defensive team they play well in all 3 zones of the ice and they are usually very disciplined and stay in their position. They also have a real good goaltender in Rindelaub who if ya haven't seen him he is impressive he can carry Cathedral on his back if needed to.

Weaknesses: The biggest weakness for this team is speed. They don't have the team speed that most teams in the tourny do. so they like to play alot of "Clutch and Grab" type hockey. If the refs allow it then it will be a long night cause SCC will wear on you. If the refs do call it though you must take advantage and skate hard as they will take unnecessary penalties. Attack their D wide you can beat them with speed. Make sure to take lots of shots as well I will promise you wont beat this team with only 20 shots on net you need to be in the 30-38 shot range.

Key Players: Adam Koopmeiners 47 points big kid who has a nack for scoring. Mike Schimdt 52 points best all around player on the team ruins there very effective powerplay unit. Matt Crandell 49 points freshman defenseman he is beyond his years in maturity plays a real good game on the blueline. Joel Rindelaub (16-1-0) has played in big games before is a real good netminder he will turn some heads with some of the saves he can make.

MY PREDICTION: SCC 3 Hibbing 2 OT I think this will be a more slow temp game then the others. I think the Crusaders will wear down Hibbing and beat them in OT. I think it can go either way I cant wait to see the match up of the Walter Brothers on Rindelaub should be fun.

I HOPE YOU LIKED THAT I DID MY BEST IF YA DO LIEK THAT PREVIEW CHECK OUT THIS TOPIC "CLASS A FIELD IS SE PREDICATIONS" I HAVE DONE THE OTHER 3 CLASS GAMES AS WELL. WELL I HIOPE YOU ENJOY IT!!

Hibbing vs. SCC

Post by suckhole00 »

This is a big game for both teams. Loser has to play the loser of Orono/Warroad game, leaving them with a very difficult game too face going 2 and out. Hibbing has a very dangerous first line, and has to be a big factor if Hibbing wants a win. SCC has very good special teams, their powerplay is very dangerous going 2-3 against Duluth Marshall. Goaltending will be key for both opponents.

Tenders- Rindelaub is seeing most of the playing time, and i believe he made first round of select 16's but dont hold it against me<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/nerd.gif ALT="8o">

SCC - 3
Hibbing - 1

scc vs hibbing

Post by breakaway66 »

I agree that scc has very good special teams. They also have solid defense which should be able to stop the walters bros. Hibbing can pull some upsets, but im going to go with cathedral i dont know much about hibbing so its hard to say what they have going for them. both teams are going to wanna keep playing at the X so they will come out hard. should be good game.

SCC-3
Hibbing-1

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

if u made it to the hermantown game Vs hibbing for the 7A final... u could see... the walters won them that game... They played pretty good D but if u think about it... put a stick on walters sticks they cant score... if THEY cant score they cant win... keep the walter brothers sticks off the ice.... cathedral will beat them... if not the walters ca nbe very dangerous work great together

Defensively Speaking

Post by JLS 81 »

SCC better be ready to solve a very tenacious defensive team. Hibbing has all role players after the first line and believe me they know their assignment. This team is great on defensive coverage if you can solve it you win the game but if you cannot the Walter boys will beat you on special teams. These kids just need a little open ice and it is in the back of your net. Pesky bunch and well coached to boot.

The comments about this game were good. Again, as I have stated before, this should be an interesting and very entertaining game. For the record, Hibbing doesn't just have one good line. They have several other players that can certainly put the puck in the net. If there is a will, there is a way and Hibbing has both to score on this team and it won't be just the Walters boys. It should be very interesting to see how this game is officiated. If St. Cloud Cathedral will be called fairly on their "clutch and grab' style, Hibbing will have no problem prevailing. Hibbing also has played solid defense during the playoffs. St. Cloud is going to find out that they are not just going to have their way as indicative of their record. Hibbing has to continue to defend well in their zone and especially durning opponent powerplays. Again, Hibbing is on a mission and will win this game. GO BLUEJACKETS!!!

5-1 hibbing in total control nice check from dehind by SCC . Cathedral looked slow and undisplined throughout tonights game. Hibbing was the better team by far. SCC will be 2 and out they will get shelled tommrow!!

How about that empty netter when Shea could have got the hat trick but instead past it to Drew talk about being unselfish.

hibbing game plan

Post by BauerVapor »

those walter boys have stepped it up big time for their team in the playoffs.
But did any of you guys notice the line combinations that hibbing used against cathedral?
It looked like the 2nd and 3rd lines had very quick shifts and the walter line had longer shifts when put on the ice. At one point I noticed the 2nd and 3rd lines being rotated with the 1st and I also saw the 2nd and 3rd lines with different players on them. I am sure that penalties played a role in this but I just didnt see consistency with the rotation of their lines. Maybe it was due to decenzo wanting to match up certain players or lines with certain lines of cathedral??
Can anyone could shed some light on this??
