elk river hockey

Post by Bbengal » Mon Mar 08, 2004 8:30 pm

i think it is clear to say that the elks will defenitely be in or win the state hockey title...first they play a team from moorhead who has no competition in there conference and had a cake walk of a section tourney, then the elks will be faced with the winner of a real nail biter, duluth vs. lakeville....i bet there will be more players then fans at that one...but anyway i just see duluth winning that one and having a repeat game of the holiday tourney against elk river....then the elks will actually have a challenge with either the holy angels vs. centennial winner(holy angels) or wayzata

I find it pretty apparent that this statement is true. I assume Moorhead is a good team, but looking at their schedule, they only beat opponents 99-0 twice. That's not that many. When you can do that 3 or more times, then come talk to me about a state championship caliber team. And 2 losses? Give me a break. Who loses that many times?

wow bbengal. I guess steam rolling over your opponents really show that your not into the game. Imagine how great moorhead would be if they were actually trying. But according to you, Elk River, who you and verb i believe are the only ones outta like 50 + predicted Elk River over MOorhead, will be just a great team. I expect not to see a post from you from thursday night afterwards forever. Nice great impression you gave us though, seriously..I mean making a brand new elk river thread where theres 1 directly below this. You got potential kid...BIG TIME.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/nerd.gif ALT="8o">

I agree with verb, 2 losses is unfathomable for a state tournament team. You know, Elk River is so much better, why aren't they number 2 in the state? I mean jeez, Moorhead?? They aren't good...Over rated anyone?

Post by Bbengal » Mon Mar 08, 2004 9:07 pm

so the spuds weren't trying in they're 27-0 victory in sections??? yea right. and obviously i am an elk river fan, look at what they have done in the last ten years...they have been the most dominating(public or private for that matter) team in high school hockey...so hows that for an impression spudguy??? by the way, how can you support a team with a potato as their mascot(just wonderin)

Mascot

Post by wbl hock doc5 » Mon Mar 08, 2004 9:14 pm

Does it matter in the end?? A names a name!!! Im going to go as far as saying: IT IS THE LEAST IMPORTANT THING IN SPORTS!!!! Your obviously running out of supporitng points on why you think ER should win if your resorting to ribbing the mascot....

I disagree with WBL in this one. Name actually means a lot. Here's why: at least 75% of all sports is mental. That's how upsets happen. Mental breakdowns, where teams or players can't put their talent to use. Or a hard working group of kid's on the under dogg squad on a mission to win. They know they're going to win. It's all mental.

That's why when certain teams play eachother, it's always a good game, no matter how good each team is. (Hill Murray/White Bear Lake, Elk River/Moorhead, The Vikings & Packers)

That's also why when you take a section-make every single team equal, Elk River will come out on top. The name. Well that, and a hockey God for a coach.

Most dominant?

Post by metromick » Mon Mar 08, 2004 9:47 pm

Tough program ER has, but 3 trips to the dance and one title hardly makes them the most dominant (section 4 is the most dominant, however).

Duluth East is the most dominant team of the last decade by a fair margin, bengal. But as I mentioned in another thread, ER is the team everyone seems to be looking past. If Spuds (GREAT name) do the same they'll be moving to Mariucci.

Yeah, i can see your point and where your comin from. But would the outcomes of the games really matter not based on the known reputation of the team, but the actual name of the mascot?

The most dominating team of the last 10 years? Maybe the biggest chokes of the decade. Does 2000 ring a bell??????<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

i'm not gonna argue that one

Post by Bbengal » Mon Mar 08, 2004 10:07 pm

the only reason i'm not going to argue that one is because i am from blaine and witnessed the greatest high school team ever win the tourney that year!!!

well i believe elk river lost to a chump team in sections that same year and didnt even make it to the state tourney...so maybe they were just scared of the fact that they would have had to play the bengals of blaine if they would have won?? i dunno, you tell me

Thats right they beat them. And thats why they are the biggest chokes of the decade because they couldn't even make it past the semis of sections. Thanks for proving my point.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Ummm...I block that out of my memory. I don't remember what happened in sections. They got scared by the Halloween colors I think. No one fears a Bengal.

ER

Post by hockey08 » Mon Mar 08, 2004 11:15 pm

Why does everyone bring up ER choking in sections everytime.... Like no other good teams have been upset by weaker teams.. Look at Edina and EP this year. The Elks have been a very dominant team over the past 10 years but not the best. I think that the spuds are looking past the Elks which could mean an upset but I think its gonna be a good game.

If Blaine walked all over everyone in that Tourney, think of what ER could have done... but that's all we can do is think. Thursday will show what's going on right now and get those Section 8 people to shut up
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

HAHAHAHA, Yeah since teams can just move out at will. Why would we move out of Moorhead's section into Duluth East's section anyway? They were a much better team back then. Try MSHSL moron
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls
