Wow! I hope Wayzata becomes a regular at the tourney from now on!!

For on the ice I spose watching Alex Stalock and SSP against Breck was the best, or the AA championship game in the 3rd after the timeout with about 30 seconds left, the whole stadium was on its feet cheering for moorhead to tie the game up... Not so much cuz they all wanted Moorhead, but mostly because they just didnt want to see the game end just yet!

Your kid introduced at the big show - priceless

Post by timmyo »

The best moment for me during the 2004 tournament was one I'm sure I "spiritually" shared with a few hundred other parents - watching your son skate to the blue line with the thunder of a full Xcel Center's applause after his name is announced on a tournament roster. Brought a tear to my eye.

Pop & Popcorn at the X - $10.00
No beer at a HS event - bummer, but OK
Your kid introduced at the big show - priceless

I hate to bring it up but when they missed #27 on one of the teams.
I have 3 kids and when they mised him, I actually, like an idiot, stood up and started yelling to the PA guy....who was on the other side of the rink from where I was sitting. I will never forget it.

I dont know how many of you guys saw it but for those who posted about how great it was to have your son introduced.....how would you like that?

I like your favorite moment too. I'm not from SSP but the emotion your team showed after that tying goal and the electricity around the building was great. It was almost like when a small northern school plays a rich suburban team the way everyone there except the breck students were cheering... Too bad it only lasted about a minute.

They forgot #27 of the spuds James Holtz. I bet that must of been pretty embarrassing but they did have thier other son announced Jeff. Although it sucked for james it looked like Morinville had a pretty good laugh about it.

Who is the clown for Elk River sporting the dreadlocks? Sure doesn't look like the son of a State Champ CC'er or a State Competitor in wrestling. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Dreadheaded son-of-a ...

Post by timmyo »

Holy Smokes, Angus ... what's a guy to do with a kid like that? Eh, I figure that when I'm raising a teenager, there are certain battles that I must win ... and hair isn't one. Plus, CC mom thinks its cute. But you should have seen him dyeing that mop black ... he was scrunching each individual dread with black dye, he had a friend helping him out, there was hair dye all over the bathroom. I'm not sure if the red rubber bands at the base of each dread showed up on TV, but that was a nice touch, dontcha think? He had a blast playing, and I sure had fun watching. BTW, after the tourney, he bleached about half the dreads - now he's black and blonde and has trouble fading away in any crowd ...

Bad Hair, Nice Kid

Post by AngusYoung »

TimmyO - He may have a bad lid, but I saw him in action @ McGovern's on Saturday evening and he seems like a nice, polite kid. Grandpa track coach would be proud. Also, the choice of his 'do shows individuality and creativity. Helluva player also - I hope Tony S doesn't 'punch him in the nose'! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

A team from the Range (HIBBING) that was told by Mr. Rich to millions watching TV that 'they don't belong there' goes out with all pride and heart and crushes St. Cloud Cathedral. Not only that but then turns it up in overtime and wins 3rd place. Wow, that is what dreams are made of.

Fav moment

Post by sotaninrussia »

My favorite moment was just being there in the middle of the Hibbing section with my friends. It was the first time I saw many of them since I came home from ÐÎÑÑÈß. I wish I could've seen my team pull out a semi final win to get to the big game, but hey it happens. Just the experience of being there and not having to watch tapes shipped to Moscow was enough for me. I had to miss 2yrs of tournies and it was just great finally getting to see it live.

Eades

Post by longlaker »

I for one, liked Eades even before he gave the puck to Dynan after the Orono game. His Blazer w/the crest is Classic! I think hs hockey needs a little style on the bench, even if it is a little cheezy. We miss Ikola and the hat.

Anyhow, his move to give the puck to Dynan was very memorable and full of class. I have nothing but respect for him and for Warroad. That is the true Hockeytown. Screw Detroit!

I'll tell you my least favorite sight was Breck's lame icing cheer. What was that? I thought they were supposed to be smart. Weak!

At the Centennial/AHA game....

Post by Hillfan »

One of the memorable things that I saw at the tournament was just great class.

During the Centennial/Holy Angels game, at the end right after Centennial put in the empty netter with about 3 seconds to go, I saw R.J. Anderson and Jared Hummel pat each other behind the play for a great game, and then they returned to their benches for the final 3 seconds.

I don't know if anyone saw it, but it was nice class by both guys. I could tell Hummel wanted it really bad, I saw that he went crazy at the end of the game doing everything he could.

Stutz!

Post by formercentgoalie »

This is classic. Maybe you know, but Stutz is a kid with a whole lot of confidence. Not really cocky, just confident.

Anyways, I was sitting 2 rows up behind the goal in Wayzata's student section during the Cent/Wayz game.

During the 2nd period, kids had been yelling "cut your hair" to him since he got to that end of the ice. After Cent. scored their 2nd goal of the game, Stutz lifted his mask to take a drink and turned around to the student section, winked and smiled. Then, immediately after, he poke checked the puck away from that kid that came in on a break away!

It was priceless. Just shows how on the top of him game he was last weekend. Solid.
