Section 7AA - next year

Post by LSandA » Sun Mar 21, 2004 9:25 pm

Who will be the best in section 7AA next year? I heard East has a program where the player's loved their new coaches and the youth system is strong. East this year played 4 lines all year and it worked to their advantage. Kudos to the northern teams.... Section 7AA had some really good teams contrary to what others say. East, Rapids, Cloquet, Brainard and Greenway were strong teams. Also kudos to Hibbing....
Great job at the state tourney!

Shall be a great year next year. Hopefully Grand Rapids can get back to the title game and overcome the wrath of the almighty hounds. East is losing a bunch of seniors, so Rapids could have a shot. IMO, there isn't a whole lot of competition in 7AA. The only desent teams, I think, are Rapids, East, and Greenway. I know that Brainerd got the 3 seed, but after the way that they just flopped in the semi final game against Rapids, I just don't see them contending. Kudos to Hibbing also, they have become one of my faves.

What about Cloquet? Who is going to be better, The T-Hawks or the Jacks? The hounds will be younger, however they return some speed and firepower, and should be real solid on D.

I just got back from a little golfing vacation and decided to come see what people were saying on minnhock. It was going well until I come to you post Hawksrock. Cloquet may not have impressed you, but how can justify your comments of Greenway being in the top 3. DE might even be a stretch considering they are losing everyone that had 5+ points last year except ONE kid. All though Rob Johnson is one of the best in the state it will be tough to carry an entire team. Cloquet should have some talent next year. They are only losing 3 starters in Al Raushel, Nick Lee, and Dustin Roe. Albeit these 3 were good, Cloquet should have a couple guys with the abiltity to step it up. Scott Baker, Garret Bates, and Mitch Ryan should all be capable. THey also have a lot of young talent coming in. Their is also a kid from Moose Lake who is most likely coming to CLoquet, believe it's syret or something like that. Supposed to be fairly decent. I won't talk up Cloquet just yet because the season hasn't started, but I will say they should be fairly capable next year

Well, sorry I ruined your good time. Greenway just impressed me more than Cloquet because the Raiders seemed to just play harder and really work during their games, more than Cloquet. Yes, I know Cloquet beat Greenway in the first round, but I still think Greenway will be stronger than the Jacks next season. I'm sorry that I ruined your good time, but all I did was simply state my opinion on my view of some teams. Oh, and I won't talk up Grand Rapids yet either, for the same reason that you stated.

I wouldn't bet on the hounds being down. They return a talented group of forwards with some good young ones coming in. They should be strong on D with 3 or 4 Seniors again, with some real talented underclassmen. Couple their line-up with the toughest schedule in the state and the experience of this years region championship and state tournament, and the hounds should make a another run at the state title!

Cloquet all the way. They will dominate section 7AA next year, no ifs ands or buts about it. East will be decent but they are gonna be very young. Rob johnson is by far the best player on their team but i dont think he can carry everyone on his back and bring em to state. Then again, he could. Should be a great year in 7AA next year i am looking forward to it!!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">

I agree Robbie Johnson will be one of the best around. However if you think he is all the East team has, you must be in denial. They will most likely be four lines deep again. Also most likely two talanted upper class goalies. Also I believe the bantam A team took second in the state. Should be another exciting year for the hounds.

nikehockey10, please give us some real evidence as to why you think Cloquet is gonna be so dominant. Aren't they losing their 3 best skaters on a team that was very average.

Also, I agree with benc14, it's always tough to lose a guy like Goligoski, however I think Rapids will be a stronger team next year. 5 spots were opened by graduation and their will be 11 juniors fighting for those spots who went 18-4 on JV this year. That first line of Columbus, Stunyo, and Tavis will be back for one more year and they will be a force. Probably the best line in the Section.

Should be a great competitive section next year. East's hockey future looks bright. They have one of the best players in the section All Tournament team member Rob Johnson, in addition there are several talented kids who will return: Schumaker, Downing, Sall, Haworth, etc.. This years bantam team has a boatload of talent including goalie Leis, defensemen Fairchild, Callahan, Brazeral, forwards McLean, Connelly, Sather, Guzzo also there are some talented first years that will add depth in the future. The jump from Bantams to high school will be difficult but all these bantams could see playing time if they are committed to improving their game.
The Hawks and the Jacks are similar in that they have a lot of good young talent which should provide for a great season and the next several years. 7AA's future looks bright.

GO NORTH!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... @mnhs>East Hockey Puck at: 3/30/04 11:53 am

best line in the section?

Post by wild77 » Tue Mar 30, 2004 3:17 pm

We waited all year for those guys to live up to the hype some of the Rapids supporters created. But that's all it was.....hype. No State Tournament experience. No CCM All Stars. No All Area Selections. You guys keep hyping those kids. They are decent hockey players, but best line in the section.....I think your statement is a line of............

Gotta agree with rapids hockey. Um, no CCM All-Stars? I believe Mr. Goligoski was one, wasn't he? All area? Weren't Columbus, Goligoski, and Stunyo selected? And, I believe they could have the best line in the section.

Just curious how many of the east bantams will be playing for Duluth Marshall. Any word of Fairchild going to Shattuck?

Word is Fairchild will be at East. Dont know how many east bantams are going to Marshall. With the rumors that go around there might be 4 going to Marshall or there might only be one.

Obviosly every year DE has a good team. GR will be decent, but they invented the words choke artists.
Now on to a real team. The lumberjacks so far have 3 kids trying out for there team next year. 2 from silver bay and 1 from moose lake. They will have 13 returning Juniors. They only lost al rauschel, nick lee, and dustin roe. They will need strong goaltending mostly likely from a sophmore reid ellingson who has had varsity time, but he is to streaky to tell. He make think he is better than he is

Why would you go play hockey at Marshall if you were any good? Let's face it... Marshall has always been a second class citizen when it came to comparing East hockey vs. Marshall...and this season was no exception. The difference is that East guy's don't need to talk...they let their record on the ice speak for itself. Any claims from Marshall folk is nothing more than wishful thinking....Can they even get out of section 2A. Anyone that would attempt to compare East hockey to Marshall hockey lives in a dream world. On top of it all, add a $7000 tuition bill on top of it. Marshall hockey has no merit...Good luck getting East kids....

First, to rapids hockey...nice comeback. Again, let the kid's action speak for themselves. Good hockey players, yes. Best line in the section? What has any of them done to this point?
To Hawksrockwhatever, my post was about the "best line in the section" not Goligoski. Not one of those 3 made the all area team or the ccm all stars.
It's one thing to make an objective post about your team or another, but objective is not in your vocabulary.
I would bet Lucia was the one that said those 3 are the best line in section 7AA. He should know because he has coached a 2 time NCAA Division 1 champion.

I know Cloquet has no players that are even near their talent level. The CCM All-Stars is a joke, there were players from other teams besides Rapids that are good and should have been on the team. Even KDLH's Chris Long said in a 7AA preview that Rapids was loaded with talent. Also, Wentworth said Goligoski wasn't the only good player on Rapids. Another thing, I didn't hear of any Jacks signing with the Gophers. Fact of the matter is Rapids was good enough to go to state, their goalie let them down in the title game. The first three were bad goals. Rapids certainly skated with East, a lot longer than CEC did.

Wildwhatever: I know you weren't refering to Goligoski, it's just that you said that Rapids had no CCM All-Stars, so I said Goligoski was one. And no all area selections. I believe Golly, Lumbo, and Stunyo were selected. Those people on the all area, excluding Goligoski, are on the "best line in the section." Correct me if I'm misunderstanding.

First you disparage your goal keeping, then your defense, then your forwards, then your school pep band, and then your coaches. Then they should have beaten certain teams if not for the refs. Not only do you decry them as a group, but you do not hesitate to mention them by their name. Then you try to convince us that those same kids that you earlier belittled are now the best around. If I were those same kids I would not want you as my supporter, but then again...supporter, hmmmmmm.......

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... >wild77 at: 3/31/04 3:48 pm
