How should a goalie be judged

My opinion is u cant really go by stats ,because it all depends on what kind of team they have in front of him. I mean say one goalie has 20 shots and another has 20 shots but one lets 5 in and the other lets 2 ppl would say the one who let 2 in is better but how can u know if u didn't watch and see what kind of goals were scored what if 4 out of the 5 the goalie had no chance because they were back door passes. Thats y i believe a goalie can only be judged by watching them and not by going by numbers on a piece of paper.............what r your opinions on this subject <p></p><i></i>

the only stat i look at in a goalie is save%. your right, goalies should be judged after being watched, however a good goalie shoud beable to stop backdoor plays at least 60% of the time. shat should be done is keep track of shots from a certin area ofthe rink, along with type of shot (onetimer, tip, ect...) and do a % based on that. That would be the best way to judge a goalie based on stats <p></p><i></i>

Simple as this, wether they can keep the puck out of the net. Doeasnt matter how they do it as long it is not in the back of the net. <p></p><i></i>

Take James F., HM's goalie for example. That kid is the best because he is incredibly quick. You are wasting your time shooting glove side, his footwork is technically sound, he's rarely out of position, and last night, every Centennial goal was either a one-timer (2, I think) or a a rebound (just 1) - nothing weak. So, goalies should be judged ultimately by how save %, however, there's a lot that you can also look at <p></p><i></i>

i agree with goalie mom because some teams r so bad every shot a goalie faces is a high quality shot from the slot or with a crowd in front so u cant see any thing and if u cant see anything its hard to stop it.....also i dont believe dump in shots from center ice should count <p></p><i></i>
