AHA vs. Tartan

Post by KodiakChew » Fri Mar 04, 2005 12:05 pm

Post your thoughts about the game here. I don't know much about Tartan and I must admit I'm surprised they beat ER. But if the stars play their game today, I don't think they will be beaten. Should be another great game today.
Go Stars!
<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/nerd.gif ALT="8o">

This will be a truly terrible game. I'd be happy to see Tartan win, but I'm predicting 8-2. It will look like Century against WBL this afternoon. Then again, 2 goals might be optimistic for Tartan. I'll revise and say 6-0.

This will not even be a game. Tartan comes from an easy section and they were lucky to get past ER. ER was not on top of there game and they took some stupid penalties. Depending on wheather or not Keaton stays on his feet, the stars will win by 5

I like the way Tartan plays, and I'm ready to see Holy Angels get beat.

However, realistic expectations and having seen both teams play, Holy Angels is just too quick. Tartan is big and physical, but you can't hit what you can't catch. Wood will have to have the best game of his career for the Titans to win:

Prediction

Stars 4, Titans 1

Got puck..do you even play hockey or know what ur talking about..and hockey dad, a lot of people would like to see holy angles lose, but it not going to happen to tartan. Holy angles does not play to other teams levels, they play there on game. Tartan will not be able to keep up with AHA on a big sheet of ice. They are too fast

AHA-Tartan

Post by MNPuckster27 » Thu Mar 31, 2005 5:02 pm

I know its almost a month removed, but I just wanted to bring this to the top so hockeydad can brag, and people can admit Tartan was much better than anyone thought, not just in this game, but all year<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

AHA was the best team though, so everyone should be happy.

I am going to agree with you on that one. Tartan really surprised me and a lot of people I know. I thought ER would beat them, and I thought AHA would STOMP them. Tartan definitely looked like the better team in that game, but they wouldn't have been able to compete against Moorhead. Tartan also surprised me when they played against us, they were a lot better than I thought. They put up a good fight and proved they were actually pretty good.

The tournament looked like there were 4 very good teams and 4 not so far above average teams going in. But the Duluthians and the Fish Sauce boys showed em something.

However Puckster, I wouldnt extend it to all year. Tartan had a lot of consistency issues all year. I was at the CDH game for the section championship and Tartans goalie had to make some huge saves to get them there. I also saw them easily beat CDH early in the year.

But again, they did a great job in the tournament.

I had stopped by Videoscout and his roomie Mark's hotel room and Mark and I were heading over to the Excel Center to catch the Friday night games which included Tartan-AHA.

We got on the elevator with a bunch of other people and Mark and I were talking about the night's games. I said something like "Holy Angels shouldn't have any problem with Tartan" and somebody behind me said "You should kick his *ss". I turned around and the guy pointed to his friend and said, "He plays for Tartan." Not really wanting to start a brawl in the elevator, I honestly said, "Well, I hope you do beat them." The elevator stopped and the player pushed past me and snarled "Nobody gives us a chance."

So, I'd like to take personal credit for firing up the Tartan team and contributing to their fine performance that night. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Tartan should have won that game, it's too bad they had to miss a couple empty netters. Great season for the Titans though.

AHA v. Tartan

Post by MNPuckster27 » Fri Apr 01, 2005 11:41 am

It really goes to show how the game has changed. In the 70's and 80's, we saw all the time in HS hockey games where a rugged team like Tartan would out work, out shoot, etc. a skilled team like AHA and win the game. Today, sure Tartan out played them for the majority of the game, but Keaton Smith played great until his team woke up and in a stretch of 8-10 minutes AHA's superior skill and skating ability won them the game.

I, along with a few others on this board was not suprised to see the game go as it went, Tartan looked good every time I saw them last year.
