Becker won't be able to compete with Cambridge in football. Becker made it to the state tourny last year for 3a and got killed. Next years seniors went undefeated in 8th, 9th, and 10th grade (with 2 wins over TG). Wrestling should be pretty competitive. Does anyone know how Buffalo will be next year for hockey?

Buffalo will be a good team next year. They graduate four kids that actually played. Monticello will end up in the middle of the conference because they also lost four seniors that didn't have to much scoring power.

Those 4 kids that actually played tho carried a heavy load last year. They accumelated 55% of the scoring. Someone will have to step up next year to fill in their shoes, but I think that Buffalo has enough talent to do so. They should be pretty deep next year.

Does anyone know anything about STMA? And does anyone know if BBL has ever had a good hockey team?

STMA beat Rogers twice this year, but not blowouts. BBL sucks <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

First of as far as football goes yes Cambridge will be top dog but looking at the next 3 teams STMA, Princeton and Becker all have outstanding Programs in football. Princeton and Becker have been to 3 straight State Tournaments and STMA also has a great program as well and Big Lake is a real good up coming program. So yes Cambridge will dominate but the next 4 teams in the conference will make this a great football conference.......

But back to Hockey:

7.) BBL: This program has to go AA now and they are not very good. Too bad this team will be in last all year long.
6.) Monticello: Yes this program will turn around but still they went (4-22-0) last including losing twice to Rogers. So I dont see them any higher then 6.They will continue to inprove but still has along ways to go.
5.) Rogers: This is an upcoming program. They will give all the teams in this confrence a good game. In about 4 years they will be Top Dog in this conference great youth program.
4.) Cambridge: Why does everyone think this team will be so good?? They have one good forward and a good goalie not much else and oh ya they lost thier coach now too. I think they could finish possibly 3 but no higher then that.
3.) STMA: They got a decent sqaud who likes to slow down the game. They have had a fabulous freshman last year and a goalie who has started for 2 years. And a supporting cast around them who have got lots of varsity experince.
2.) Princeton: They still have top notch forwards in Osmundson, King and Mcelhone. They have 2 very solid defenseman in Sanio and Miller. The big question Goaltending?? If they find someone to be steady this team will be Number 2 in this conference.
1.) Buffalo: This team will be the deepest and most talented team by far. They should win this conference easily. I look for the Bison to win this Conference for Awhile in the begining but then Watch Out for ROGERS!!

Well by looking at the A pee wees this year by the time those kids get to High School this will be an actually very good conference. But until then not much of a hockey conference.

DB I agree with you on everything about the ratings and there is one way that the conference could get better put pine city in this conference it would be a perfect fit

Pine City??? You can't be serious.

They would be a mid to low end hockey team and probably wouldn't win a game/match in any other sport.

actually i was just thinkin about the hockey aspect of this conference since this is a hockey message board. I do agree with you in the sense that pine city would be horrible for this conference for any other sport but in hockey they would actually be right in the hunt for 2nd-5th place because if you didnt notice that pine city beat stma in the second half of the season their is a fact for you and only lost to cambridge 4-2 in the beginning of the season which was a completely different team compared to the second half of the season and they didnt even have shane youngbauer or david moore who were 2 of the 5 kids who actually played some varsity time the year before during the second half. but im not sayin they could compete buffalo because that team might make some noise in AA next year. and it would be ten times better for them to be in this conference rather than being independent.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... 16>JL16 at: 3/21/05 9:59 pm

I agree that Pine City youth has a few very good players that will make them a better team the next few years, but you lost your coach, the only reason PC get's better is because of Voce. Unless you get a top notch coach, expect there wont be any improvement of the team overall.
I thought this was about cambridge/isanti, not pine city!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... erhock1 at: 3/22/05 9:09 pm

Heres what i think the Mississippi 8 will look like

1. Buffolo- to much fire power for the rest of the conference but Cambridge or princeton could upset them.

2.3. I think this is a tie between Cambridge and Princeton- Princetons top 5 skaters are better than C Is but goaltending is the equalizer and they will split the series cant wait to watch these teams face each other!!!

4. STMA do not know much but I think they wont be able to beat the top three

5. Monticello- could be the sleeper beat Cambridge last year and has more fire power then Rogers.

6. Rogers - is getting better but still not as good as the rest.

7. Beck big lake- nothing to say LOST to North Branch

I don't think Princeton will be able to compete with Cambridge. Sure they have an OK first line, but that is only because of 1 player. Princeton has no depth and on top of that they don't have a goalie. I could see them dropping as far down as number 5. Cambridge last year was a young team and didn't lose much from graduation, returning 61% of thier scoring next year. Does anyone have any stats on Princeton from last year?

I dont know how you can say can say Cambridge didnt lose much from graduation they lost 3 of there 4 leading scorers from last year. While Princeton will return 3 of there 5 top scorers. Also Princeton will return besides those 3 who were top scorers last year they will return 7 more kids who have 2 years of Varsity Experince. So it looks like Princeton will be just as deep if not deeper then Cambridge. Also. Osmundson had around 40 points while both King and Mcelhone had 30 points. So that first line will be pretty dangerous and is not just one player. As far is how they will do I dunno because of goaltending Goldsmith could steal a game but I beiieve in the end Princeton will finish ahead of Cambridge. Because Princeton has in the last 5 years averaged 15 wins per season this is a program getting use to winning while Cambridge who has gotten better the last 3 years because of a GOOD Coach. But they lost him and I feel this team will be around .500 record again. I could be wrong oh well my opinion. But this is a fact Buffalo will dominate is this is a pathetic Hockey Conference when we are talking about teams with the abilty of Cambridge and Princeton battling it out for 2nd in most confrences these 2 teams would be lucky to take 5th or 6th place.

Also returing 61% of there scoring is a very misleading fact. If you take Chumley out of the equation the actually only returns about 30% of its scoring so really besides Chumley and that Akers kid they dont have much scoring coming back. Not nearly as much as Princeton, Monticello or STMA. So I mean they have good goaltending and A goof forward but depth is lacking up front and who will coach this bunch how the team respond to the new coach?????

Chumley is in the equation thats all that matters and Akers only played in half the varsity games and watch out for kenny sanz next year. This line will be fun to watch. They will be just fine with thier coach. This is good group of kids coming up I have been watching them since they were little. As long Chumley and Goldsmith keep thier heads on striaght Cambridge will be just fine.

I agree about the Cambridge coaching situation being just fine. I was not a big fan of their coach anyways, there seemed to be very little discipline on the team and the team played like a bunch of hacks. They should have a way better team this coming year than this past year.

Ideally I would like to see a dynamic individual from outside come in. But I think either Ziebarth or Treichel would do a decent job and definitely would improve the relationship between the varsity and youth program.

As far as the conference next year, I don't know anything about STMA, but I would give the nod to Princeton for 2nd but Cambridge, STMA, and even Rogers may have a chance of finishing ahead of them.

You may laugh me for putting Rogers up there, but remember they really aren't trying to build a program. The inherited part of an awesome program in Elk River, and it is only a matter of time until they too will be very good. Remember this will be I think their third year, without looking into it, I'm guessing they should have a decent group of juniors and sophomores this year. I may be totally wrong, but I don't think they are that far behind the other programs in this new conference.

All I was saying is that Saying 61% of there scoring back was very misleading. You take Chumley out and they only return about 30% which shows that besides Chumley and Goldsmith Cambridge doesnt have muich else coming back. So there depth is lacking. I think Rogers is a dangerous program believe me there youth Program is very good and as time progresses they will become the team to beat in this conference. But I still believe they are about 2 years away but I could be wrong. But as for Princeton this will be there worst team and about 6 years but they still should have enough in this weak conference to compete for 2nd. And we will see what happenes alot could happen from now till next year. Summer Kids get better or kids get Lazy. Also kids could leave or kids could transfer in so hard to say. But here is my prediction: Buffalo will win this conference

Buffalo returns a pretty good chunk of their squad. They were pretty young last year. They only lost four seniors that made a difference, but will need to replace the scoring that Trousdale and Mueller gave them.

Buffalo will be a full fledged member of the Mississippi 8 for hockey, but they will only play one game against each of the other six schools. Each game will be a four-point game for purposes of conference standings. (6-0 would be 24 points, and no one else in the conference can match that unless they sneak up on Buffalo)

They will play an affiliate schedule with the Lake Conference, or a home/home series with each team. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">
