Tyler Lapic - New Prague
Jared Maetche - St. Cloud Tech

*These guys tried out for the NTDP, so they'll all make it.
#These guys are D1 commitments, so they'll probably make it.
^I've seen in three different places now that Matt Johnson stood out. Pencil him in.

I caught some of the 16s last Saturday.

No defense men looked overly dominant. Mattson and Schmidt were the best two I saw. Mattson needs to work on the physical part of his game, but that's kind of tough when you're 5'11", 140 pounder. Schmidt needs to go at it 100% all of the time. He is a dominating player when he's at full speed.

For forwards the top three that I saw on the day were Budish, Oliver, and Matt Johnson.

Here's the LIST for the Central District players that will be skating in the national Select Festivals. Hill-Murray has a player at each age level - Andy Singerhouse (17s), Nick Widing (16s) and Dillon Mershon (15s). Another local is Mac Carruth, a goalie on the 15s. He's a Minnetonka kid that moved to Chicago last summer.

www.minnesotahockey.org has a link to the list of the National 16's, but it doesn't work! Can any of you computer geeks hack into it?

Mattson does not need to be overly physical. Does he need to get bigger and stronger: yes

Frankly, not every D needs to be physical. Lidstrom from Detroit is a good example of that.

Maybe in the high school season Schmidt could be dominating. The young man was physically a young man in 8th grade. Elite kids his age are catching up to him in size and strength. I don't know if he is dominating when he plays with and against Elite 16 & 17s.

As for Budish, I have always like him as a player. I hear he is a good kid away from the rink as well.

Oliver is growing on me as a player. He is big and sees the ice well. Plus, he is a PLAYER. He works with and off his teammates.

By physical I did not mean laying everybody out. I mean willingness to go in the corners and fight for the puck. I only saw him play one game, and my analysis was just from what I saw from last Saturday's action.

Schmidt showed signs of dominance...but played a little lazy at times. Mattson never dominated, but was one of the best pure skaters I have seen in a while.

As far as the forwards, I couldn't agree more.

ok, i would say mattson dominates. when was the last time a 9th grader was all conference in the lake conference? hes the best 9th grader and walters is right up there too. but to say he doesnt dominate isnt true. he gets at least one assist just about every single game and ive never seen a kid work the powerplay as well as him.

Mattson is a talented player. His NTDP invite is testimonial to that. He did a great job at varsity, especially considering he was a 9th grader. To say he is/was dominate is an exageration.

gopherhockey33...turn your brain on. I said...Last Saturday, he did not dominate one bit in the select camp. It was the only time that I've seen him play.

Congrats to the selected group of 16's...

What might be even more impressive is the list of 17's who completely dominated the 16's on the final day of 51's

13-0 8-2 and 9-3 The 90's are incredible deep and talented.

Anyone know how last years 16's matched up against the 17's.
If they are that deep they should have done pretty well! :?:

Likely why they still, as of Sunday night 9PM, have still not posted the 17 nationals. This 90's group is very deep - tough decisions for the selection committee!

How do Mike Lee and Joe Howe get listed as forwards? I would assume they are goalies for this.

Is this accurate? I don't see anything on Minnesota Hockey website (as of Monday 5-14-07 @ 5:17 p.m.). Also, I had heard they were only taking 6 D. I count ten on the D list.

Please help with information.
