This will be an interesting game. Roseville seems to be a team that plays at the level of it's competition. It has beat Hastings 5-3 and tied 4-4, while the Bears have whooped Hastings twice, and Roseville won 2-1 and 3-2 versus Park, while the Bears throttled Park. Roseville lost in OT to MV, and by the virtue of a goal with two seconds left in regulation, Roseville almost lost in regulation.
It looks as though Roseville is getting plenty of shots - 30+ a game, but how are the quality of shots? Debace and Brodt seem to be leading the way for the Raiders, and it will be key for WBL to stay out of the box, with the injuries.
WBL's Zach Hoffman seems to be moving better on land, and as I have stated time and time again, he is one of the toughest SOB's I have seen. He doesn't want to come off the ice, and when he's not dressed, I know he's hurting.
Lowell, Hoffman, and the rest will have to have their health monitored as to their effectiveness and we may see a lot of fourth-line players get action.
With Casey Gjerde back after a layoff, it will be pivotal that he doesn't overexert excitement of being back and taking aggressive penalties. After a layoff like this, it's human nature to be so pumped and wanting to prove yourself, that sometimes aggressive play bites ya in the butt.
But, I think the inexperience in big games for the Bears will be highly tested. I think it's fortunate that this is a Thursday night game, or the Roseville crowd would be even bigger and more vocal - a couple years ago, the Michael Dorr/Jake Hansen matchup was phenominal with the raucous crowd.
My homerism takes the Bears 4-2 with an empty netter, but my head tells me that Roseville will be awfully physical and will squeak out a 2-1 victory over my Bears.

REALLY? How do you get this info Blanco? Do you attend practices are something? You are the true insider to this team.blanco oso wrote:hoffman is playing forward for the bears tonight, but birki and dolfay will still be out for this one.BodyShots wrote:It's "Raider" week for the Bears. Now answer me this. Why would the coaches move Hoffman to defense? They finally are in a situation to play four solid D (Hoffman, Putney, Gjerdy, and Lesch). Everybody on this board seems to think the defense is what is holding this team back. What are the coaches trying to accomplish with this move?
I can't wait to see how this move works out. Will it be billiant, or the straw that broke the camels back?
Cracker Jack, what are your thoughts on this move? I'm sure you were on top of this story long ago!

Nobody kisses more ass at practice than I do, but with the two teams at split arenas, news of sending Hoffman to forward baffles me.
Bodyshots? I am not sure what info you are privy to, since you appear to know who I am, and yet, your wear the Mask of Zorro, but, I agree with you 100% that it doesn't make sense. Hoffman isn't 100%, but an 80% Hoffman is still a great option to have back at the point than at forward.
I also didn't hear what happened to Dolfay, but..... when I posted earlier about the lack of experience this team has in big games, I would be very hesistant to move Hoffman up - ALTHOUGH , he was so effective in that role last year. He is like Cal Clutterbuck of the Wild... always making something happening.
Having Hoffman on the ice, every other shift, is more important to this team than every three.
Blanco?? What was on the menu at school today?

line 1-you got the regular slator, lowell and captain swanson line
line 2-no birki, so move hauswirth up with wallin and wolter
line 3-hoffman,jansen and pasma(since haus was moved up)
Now here is where I get confused...
D-putney,loesch,gjerde(no dolfay,no hoffman) but hoffman says he could be moved back and forth between d and forward?its still up in the air but it will be interesting to see what happens tonight. maybe coach sager will get hit on the head with an apple and say "EUREKA" when he figures out he need Hoffman back on D for 2 good lines of d and 2 good lines of offense to win this game...

yah i dont know...its going to be interesting tonightGoldfishdude wrote:Garin David scored a goal last game. They had Jansen with Wahlin and Wolter, which I like, and I think Pasi and Hausi have too good of chemistry to break up.... I'd leave David with Pasi and Hausi. Keep WBL's version of "the HOFF" back at D....
But then again, I drink too much!!!
