Varsity Freshmen

Post by Teak »

As last year, I intend on tracking freshmen who make the jump to varsity play this season. These are not necessarily the best 94s in Minnesota since many at the larger schools will still be playing Bantam A's or Junior Varsity. Still, it is interesting to see young players making an impact on their team, no matter whether it is a Twin City powerhouse (e.g., Christian Horn @ Benilde last season) or a small outstate school (e.g., the boys at Red Lake Falls).

Not all rosters are up yet at FollowThePuck.com (thank you Doug for your hard work!), so add names if you know of any missed, or for schools for which rosters are not yet available.

This is a long list, but it will get whittled as play begins and the scoring leaders are tracked. (I don't follow Goal-keepers, sorry....)

Name/School/Grade (8 or 9), Position
Johnny Austin, Blake 8 D
Christopher Chute, Blake 9 F

TJ Page, Cambridge 9 D

Ryan Edevold, Crookston 9 F/D

Three very interesting names:

Broten @ Roseau (Aaron's, Neal's, or Paul's son?)

White Bear Freshman

Post by MedleyWR »

White Bear has a freshman defender, Lance Carney. I have never seen the Bears skate a freshman before. I have seen Lance skate a few times and he appears to be a talented player.
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything.

Very skilled player indeed. According to some players in the system, he will be one of their best d-men this year.

In other words, Carney will be gone after a year or two with White Bear (and Sager).

And so the continuing complaints about the White Bear Lake coach gets carried on into the Varsity Freshmen thread.

Sigh.....

Thus the long list of freshmen on their roster. Which of those do you see playing varsity, which JV?

I'd wonder how Worthington does faceoffs then haha

If I'm correct, Armstrong is a move-in from Vermont(?). Helps compensate a little bit for the mass exodus of younger players to East Ridge.
