Section 3AA
I'm presuming that the seedings will come out in a couple of days...predictions anyone?
Mine:
1. Eagan -- Suprise AA team of the year IMO, possibly for both classes. One win each over EP and Jefferson makes the team a credible top seed. Bodeker will defend the net well.
2. Cretin -- I predict that they beat Woodbury on Thursday, and it's nothing more than a gut feeling telling me that. Perron, Barbato, and Kinne have the majority of the points.
3. Woodbury -- Disappointing year in some respects considering all the seniors they have, but they're finishing strong. Gaede will really turn it on for the playoffs, and Ness has been doing really well since the new year.
4. Apple Valley -- Have shown good skill, but haven't been able to get over the hump and upset some better teams in close games (such as in second game vs. Jefferson and Burnsville). Fasching and Michaelson seem like great young talent.
5. Hastings -- Beat Eastview and Park (twice) this season. Have taken care of teams they were supposed to beat this year and not much else.
6. Park -- Good win against Woodbury followed by a close loss to Cretin had many imagining a good year for Park, but they really dropped off after that. Graff leads in assists and goals.
7. Eastview -- Only three wins in the Lake so far, and they'll probably beat Kennedy on the 18th. They definitely became one of the whipping boys in the Lake this year. O'Shea seems to have had a nightmare year.
8. Henry Sibley -- Beat Simley and Richfield as well as some lower-level outstate teams this year. I'll put them 8th place thanks to Rosemount's unfortunate lack of wins this year.
9. Rosemount -- 20 losses (so far) including one to Kennedy land them in last place. Wins against Prior Lake and Hastings.

After last nights games the section semi finals IF the top 4 seeded teams make it should make for some good competitive games. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Eagan doesn't make it out as the #1 seed but I think it is something they can do as well. They've played to at a high level all year no reason they couldn't prove some people wrong who still don't believe.
Only thing with the above rankings I would maybe say could change is that Eastview, Sibley, and Park could all be interchangable as far as what they get seeded. Sibley has more wins with 9 but against no one of quality. Park has the least amount of wins at 4 but has more credible wins then anyone with a win over Woodbury but haven't won in a very long time either. Eastview has just not done anything impressive this year with only 5 wins.

If last night was any indication we should have an Eagan/Cretin final, but we all know how should have could have's work. Wouldn't surprise me to see the top 4 in the semi's where I think anyone can win, probably whoever has the hottest goalie. My prediction on seeds:
1 Eagan
2 Cretin
3 Woodbury
4 Apple Valley
5 Hastings
6 Eastview
7 Park
8 Sibley
9 Rosemount
1 Eagan
2 Cretin
3 Woodbury
4 Apple Valley
5 Hastings
6 Eastview
7 Park
8 Sibley
9 Rosemount
Will Eagan be able to beat the spell of the #1 seed from this section not advancing to the State Tournament the last three years?
In 2007, Cretin was #1 and were beaten by Woodbury in the finals.
In 2008, Rosemount was #1 and was stopped by Woodbury in the finals.
In 2009, Woodbury was #1 and were shutout by Apple Valley in the semifinals.

An observation, long time youth coach Steve Zwieg passed away on tuesday, playing cretin with that hanging over your head is really tough for high schoolers. I am not making excuses, but most of those players had be coached by Steve Zwieg. Great man and coach. Tough to mourn the loss of a great coach and play a emotional game. I hope they play better next game, I believe they will

Im interested in the Eagan Apple Valley matchup in the semis. It is very challenging to beat a team 3 times in one year and the last game between the two was close. My prediction Apple Valley-Cretin rematch in the section finalwbmd wrote:Will Eagan be able to beat the spell of the #1 seed from this section not advancing to the State Tournament the last three years?

Make that 4 years in a row. Next year the smart coach will decline the #1 seed.wbmd wrote:They have to make it first.
