Class A Sections Top Four Seeds

Post by greenway1969 » Wed Jan 26, 2011 3:22 pm

My take on the seedings for the Class A Sections. The teams in parathesis indicate important section wins, quality wins, or the team's best win.

Section 1A
1. Rochester Lourdes (St. Cloud Cathedral, New Prague, Albert Lea)
2. Albert Lea (New Prague, International Falls)
3. New Prague (Mankato West)
4. Mankato West (Albert Lea)

Section 2A
1. Blake (Thief River Falls, Stillwater, Totino-Grace)
2. Breck (Mahtomedi, St. Cloud Cathedral)
3. Delano (New Ulm, Orono)
4. Chaska (New Ulm)

Section 3A
1. New Ulm (Litchfield-Dassel-Cokato, Eau Claire Memorial)
2. Litchfield-Dassel-Cokato (New Ulm, Holy Family)
3. Hutchinson (Litchfield-Dassel-Cokato, Marshall)
4. Marshall (Mankato West, Willmar)

Section 4A
1. St. Thomas Academy (Duluth Marshall, White Bear Lake, Breck, Cretin-Derham Hall, Mahtomedi)
2. Totino-Grace (Thief River Falls, Mahtomedi, Duluth Marshall, Breck)
3. South St. Paul (Mathomedi, Cloquet)
4. Mahtomedi (Virginia)

Section 5A
1. Hermantown (Grand Rapids, Virginia, Duluth Marshall, East Grand Forks, St. Cloud Cathedral, Rogers)
2. Rogers (St. Cloud Cathedral, Mounds View)
3. St. Cloud Cathedral (Alexandria, Delano, Mound)
4. Proctor (Delano, International Falls)

Section 6A
1. Little Falls (Hibbing, Alexandria, St. Cloud Tech, Brainerd)
2. Sartell-St. Stephen (St. Cloud Cathedral, Fergus Falls, Alexandria)
3. Willmar (Fergus Falls, Little Falls, tie with Sartell-St. Stephen)
4. Fergus Falls (ties with Little Falls and Alexandria, Mankato West)

Section 7A
1. Duluth Marshall (tie with Hibbing, Rochester Lourdes, Cloquet, Mahtomedi)
2. Hibbing (Roseau, Warroad, Mahtomedi, Virginia)
3. Virginia (Duluth Central, Little Falls, Cloquet)
4. Duluth Central (Hibbing)

Section 8A
1. Thief River Falls (tie with Hermantown, Roseau, Warroad, Crookston)
2. East Grand Forks (Warroad, Grand Forks Central)
3. Warroad (Their River Falls, St. Cloud Tech, Roseau)
4. Crookston (East Grand Forks)

personally for section 1a, new prague, albert lea and mankato west are almost interchangable for #2-4 right now. Personally I think Lourdes is at 1, West is 2, AL is 3, New Prague is 4.

If West is able to beat Albert Lea at Albert Lea later this season you have to think that West gets the 2nd seed over Albert Lea almost for sure barring a monumental collapse of course. The thing is that West has never won a game in Albert Lea.

Lots of competitive sections in class A, 6A, 7A and 8A seem extremely interesting. I could see any of the top 4 upsetting one another.

4A looks like TG and STA, 2A is almost always controlled by Blake and Breck, I like New Ulm in 3A but LDC or Hutch could surprise. Hermantown looks to separate themselves from the rest of 5A.

Scarlet.... I see it the same as you as of right now. Taht would mean, if the top seeds prevail, NP vs. Lourdes in the semis for the fourth year in a row.

in 7A, I would place Falls in 4th. They have a big win over Virginia in Virginia and can compete against many.
