Winner more than likely takes the Lake Superior Conference.

I think the game tonight will be close enough to pay attention the entire game and maybe the 'Jacks have regrouped from losing Michaud for the season in the Rapids game enough to hang with Hermantown. The defense is still hurting if not missing some as well. If they are going to win, McFarlane, Meyer and Kuhlman will have to account for 3-4 goals and keep Hermantown off the board with strong goaltending.

Was at the game tonight and it was not Hermantown's best effort. I am sure the late night and the "hang over" from the EP game did not help either. OTOH, Cloquet was lots of fun to watch tonight. They have a passing game that is a thing of beauty to behold. Several times they got two or three passes in and then a shot on goal as they were going high speed from the blue line in. Almost never did they play that dump and chase game and were always putting pressure on the net. The score got closer with about 4 min left after Cloquet let two bad turn overs go in the neutral zone and Hermantown capitalized on both of them. Other than that Cloquet handled them all night long. They out skated them, out hit them and just plain out hustled them to the puck. The speed, passing and mind reading between line mates was something to watch. Clean game with the first penalty coming in the second period and then the usual tripping and stuff like that trickling in as the game went on. All in all, if Hermantown plays like that in the post season it will be a short, disappointing run to repeat their state final appearance and if Cloquet plays like that they will shorten some people's runs up themselves. Over all one of the funnest games to watch this year even if the score was reversed from what I was hoping to see. $5 well spent to be entertained tonight.
The third period, the 'Jacks fell asleep and forgot to play defense for a while.. the one glaring weakness the team has at times is NOT playing both ends of the night for 51 minuets. They could make the game with East on Tuesday a real battle if they play like they did the first two periods tonight, but won't be close if they have a few minutes like the third period.
Skrbich comes in nearly alone on Scheuer twice in 56 seconds in the third period (first one shorthanded even) to make it a game again..stuff like that.. and reversing the puck deep in their own zone when they're halfway out instead of going off the boards out of the zone.

The thing that I saw about them was that when they went into the zone everything was at the net. Only a couple of times did I see them go into a mode where they were going to go in and try to "set it up". Lots and lots of bodies (big ones) in front of Hermantown's goalie and always a guy or two crashing the net. They looked hungry and focused, on a mission. You are right about the 3rd period. A minute or so there of inattention with a couple of more shots that their goalie turned away which would have really hurt them.
To say it was not Htown's best effort is the understatement of the day. It was worth the $5 bucks if you were rooting for the Jacks as they came ready to play, but not if you wanted to watch a good hockey game. This should have been an evenly contested match against two very similar teams. Htown looked like they were playing a 10PM no-check bar league hockey game and Cloquet took full advantage. This game could have easily been running time for the Jacks. The first goal was a leaker, but Lucas had basically no chance on the rest as it was odd-man rush after odd-man rush. I don't know that either team takes much away from this one other than a few hours of cardiovascular conditioning...... Hit the reset button and move on

That was fun to watch. I was there to see the game and Cloquet is an upset threat in section 7. If they play more disciplined defensively i like how they play in the offensive zone. GR or DE better not take them lightly. Just adds to the intrigue of the sections coming up. They should all be fun games.
