#1 Bemidji vs #2 Moorhead for Section 8AA

Post by Teak » Sun Feb 27, 2011 7:50 pm

Who takes this one? After two ties this season, this could be THE Section Final for 2010-2011.

I like Bemidji for that fact that they probably have the most balanced scoring in the state (7 players with more than 20 points) and a top-notch goal-keeper in Jeremiah Graves (93% save average).

Pulling for the Jacks. This game is gonna be very close and wouldn't be surprised if it went to overtime. I will take Bemidji 2-1 in o.t.

I like Bemidji in another close one between these two, I think Michael Bitzer probably gives Moorhead a little advantage in goal over Bemidji's Jeremiah Graves, but not by much and I think Bemidji has a little more depth and skill than Moorhead up front. Bemidji 3 Moorhead 2 2OT's

Regular season stats:
Bitzer Moorhead .930

Graves Bemidji .928

Tough one to call there unless you are referring to strength of schedule difference than the nod for sure goes to Moorhead.

Interesting matchup will be Bemidji foward lines against Bitzer tending. Should be great game!

I think the Spuds will pull through; however, if the Jacks win, it will be nice to see a new team represent 8AA.

Good luck to both.

These two teams are almost identical with balanced lines and scoring and good defense and goaltenders. Probably why they have played to two ties this year. I think this will be another close one with Bemidji riding the emotion of their first trip to the section finals since 1986.

Bemidji is deeper and I feel goaltending is a toss up. Both Graves and Bitzer are fairly solid. Strength of schedule doesn't mean a thing obviously they have skated to two overtime ties already. Now, take coaching into consideration.

I will take...... Bemidji 4-2.

As much I want Bemidji to win and skate to state for the first time since the Pelawa team went...I just think Moorhead will take it away from them. I'll be at the game and hopefully it'll be a good game. Bemidji came out flying, played physical and a well played game overall on Saturday night and if they do they'll have a good chance.

Huh? The 2AA/6AA night is always the best session.
EP two out of three.

This one is good but I'm gonna have to take the wayzata vs EP matchup as the best section final.

Thank you for that correction. Were there any other trips to the section finals between 86 and 90?

Bemidji by two. About time 8AA mixed it up a bit. 8)

Good grief. I guess I was looking at the last time Bemidji WON the section title. I still like Bemidji in this one.

Looks like I will be all alone on this one but the Taters win 5-2 with an open netter. These kids have been trashed by the papers, ripped in this post and bashed in the cafe. They will roll over the Jacks. As for state, that is a different story. The cities kids have been trashed, ripped and bashed more than they care to think about. It won't bother them a bit.

Bemidji also lost to Roseau in the 2000 finals.
