They are both equally gruesome.clutterbuck22 wrote:Yes you have. His name is Phil Housley.pacman wrote:I don't think i've ever heard worse!!!!

Lou brings a love of the game that is unmatched. His breadth of experience, literally involved in all levels of the sport, is unequalled. If Dick Vitale can go 30 years doing nothing but shouting on ESPN, certainly Lou can go on forever working one weekend a year.
I remember him doing a great job. Wish I could see the games today. Maybe I'll pay for one of these. (As I recall, the online offering was using the local TV feed.)

Be kind. Rewind.

Doing a much better job this year not being a homer.
Same voice for years of memories is kinda cool.. I will admit.

There's no comparison between the two. Nanne has been broadcasting for a long time. Sure he's getting old, but it's so much better than listening to Phil.
If Nanne's kids went to Columbia Heights, you wouldn't have a problem with him. It's the Edina thing that bothers people.
For Phil, it's on the job training. For that, we suffer. Not saying I could do better, but I wouldn't put you through it.

Agreed. I've never understood the complaint against Lou since I've never heard anyone give examples. But with the criticism of Phil there's plenty of examples. The bias with Lou is another... it seems to me he's quite conscious of the fact his grandson is out on the ice. Obviously he hopes Edina wins, but it seems to me he provides quite a balanced perspective. Just imagine what it will be like when he's gone.skiumah wrote:There's no comparison between the two. I can splash in the rink puddles!
All true. He's awesome and he's ours. Enjoy the tradition!!O-townClown wrote:Lou brings a love of the game that is unmatched. Wally is the radio voice of the Gopher hockey team on 'cco (for the rest of this season).mj79 wrote:IMO one of the best announcer pairings Ive ever heard..TriedThat2 wrote:Wally was fun. You never knew what was coming next.
What happened to Wally?
I just don't get the complaints about Lou (of course I share his Edina bias, but still...). He knows the game and knows a lot about many of the kids and teams and brings that to the broadcast.

Pacman - Sorry but you get no support from me on the Lou bashing. He's exceptionally knowledgeable, interesting and a FREAKING LEGEND. There is nobody that would be better suited to take over the mic, and like many others have said, he will be sadly missed when he's gone.....And I'm not a Edina fan either!
Housley on the other hand............

Lou's exceptionally knowledgeable and sees the little things that make watching the game with him interesting. I think the fact that his grandson plays for Edina (and another for Minnetonka, I believe) is actually an advantage. He's seen a number of these teams and players play this year, and over the years for that matter and can comment from experience.

Lou might be a legend but it is as the guy who was stupid enough to doom the Northstars by taking Brian Lawton.demongoed wrote:Lou's exceptionally knowledgeable and sees the little things that make watching the game with him interesting. Lou Nanne
Love Lou. He's a Gopher, an Olympian and a North Star. He's been a big part of the tournament for 47 years. He knows the game and speaks well. He's been much less of a homer for Edina over these past 5-6 years that Edina has been back in the tournament. He's been very complimentary of top players and top teams. Phil Housley is awful compared to Lou.
