I think Malmquist. Plays both ends of the ice as a forward, unlike some of the others on the list.

Keegan Iverson is the best freshman in the state.

He has the size, speed, shot, vision/instincts, skill set and compete level
that every scout is drooling over.

Oh ya, he can play forward or defense and can stand out on both.

He will be missed after this season.

I believe his rights were drafted to a team in the WHL for their bantam draft that they do but im not positive on what team. I may be wrong with all that but I believe I read tat a time back. Im sure Ann Arbor will be all over this kid too cause hes been a state known name for a few years now.

Portland has his rights. Portland also has his brothers rights I believe and sounds like both Keegan and Wes will be playing in the WHL next year.

How do you think Shane Gersich compares to Keegan Iverson?

Shane is overseas right now, and got a hat trick in the USA's first game, while Keegan is not.

Shane Gersich clearly the top Freshmen in the state. Here are the top 3.

1. Gersich (USA TEAM)
2. Malmquist (EDINA) Should be in AUSTRIA
3. Walker (USA TEAM but sent home)

I don't think you can just judge based on who is in Austria. This tournament is at a bad time for high school kids. Is it more important to play in Austria, and skip 2 to 3 weeks of your high school season in January a critical month for team development.

I know there are some 96 birth years that are both freshman and sophomore's from Minnesota and other states that looked significantly better at the 15 camp in Rochester over the summer that are not on the team.

Gersich is a solid player. Get's caught with his head down sometimes but I'd say he's hands down the best of those freshmen.

Dropped all the way to 64 for NA prospects.. Add in the other players in Europe and he'll be a mid third rounder now.

Would have been the most heralded Minnesotan to come out in a while, had he stayed.
