Pegged those four in the other thread. Here were my other six guesses...
F – Justin Kloos – Lakeville South
F – Grant Opperman – Breck
D – Eric Schurhamer – St. Thomas
F – Dylan Steman – Maple Grove
F – Matt Pohlkamp – Brainerd
F – Josh Cisar – Moose Lake
I'm second guessing Pohlkamp and Cisar. I'd probably have to go with Zajac because of his "protential", even though Merchant and Kuchera are leading him in points.

Has any team ever had more than two finalists? Plus the other two Hounds who might have been in contention were hurt for long stretches of the season. They got the right two.mulefarm wrote:I can't believe East doesn't have more players and GR doesn't even get one? How many finalists are there?
Most of GR's top-end players are not seniors. If they stick around, Bischoff will be among the frontrunners next year, and Peterson will have a shot the year after.
There are 10 total finalists.

2005 - Brain Lee
That's a nice 5 year run right there.

Interesting to see Sampair on there. Kuchera and Steman snubbed. I got to go with Bitzer for the Brimsek.Guru20 wrote:This is the final list:
Kloos Lakeville South
Schurhamer STA
Opperman Breck
Sampair Hill Murray
Randolph Duluth East
Toninato Duluth East
Thomas Hermantown
Zajac Eagan
Merchant Eagan
Peterson Marshall
Only 2 goalies up for the Frank Brimsek:
Bitzer Moorhead
Koop Maple Grove
Congratulations to all the nominees. A wise man once told me "The nomination IS the award. It's not the award, it's what we learn from the experience that's important". Good luck to all.keepyourheadup wrote:A good list and while I wouldn't remove a single one it sure is tough stopping at ten. McClain, Pohlkamp, Anderle and Dickman could easily be included. All 4 of these kids have had not only great years but great high school careers. Congatulations to all our finalists and let the speculation begin!

I CANNOT believe Anders Franke is not on the Brimsek list. Top ten in the state in sv % on a team that is a few games above .500 and that plays good competition on most nights. Not to mention a 4 year varsity starter and spent 2 years in the elite league. WOW!
He's not the only one that you could argue got snubbed either. Don't get me wrong Koop and Bitzer are deserving but Franke definitely should be in the discussion. Bitzer wins hands down though, you take away him from Moorhead and they are nowhere near the team they are now.

Kloos should win. Hands down. Randolph and Toninato get much deserved credit too, and all of the other players on the list are certainly top 10 worthy, however NO ONE draws the attention that Kloos does night in and night out and still delivers. His supporting cast other than Alex Harvey is very weak and the kid just flat out gets it done. Glad to see them show some serious respect for Zajac and Merchant who IMHO are 2 of the most complete skillset HS players in the state. Both play an excellent all around game (similar to Trevor Olson at East) which unfortunately isn't given much attention in HS as all the emphasis seems to be put on scoring.
Anders Franke got hosed. Agreed. No other way to put it. Bitzer should win. Both outstanding goalies.ImissMYhockey wrote:I CANNOT believe Anders Franke is not on the Brimsek list. I'd love for the NHL scouts and D1 coaches to step up and say Peterson is a smart, well-mannered kid, is a phenomenal HS player, is destined for a great hockey career, and therefore deserves the Mr. Hockey award over Kloos, but that's not going to happen. Kloos wins this hands down, but I certainly hope Peterson goes on to have a better hockey career!Hockey North wrote:Judd Peterson is just as worthy.Sats81 wrote:Kloos should win. Hands down.
