I may have heard wrong, but i'm pretty sure McGraw said that Blake Wheeler was the star of the 1994 Breck State Championship team...they had the graphic that said 2004 on the screen literally seconds before, take a look at the monitor every once in a while...

I thought I heard the same...

He's old, so I guess he has an excuse.

Forget who's playing, Philly?

This is why I cheer for Stillwater to make it to State more times than not; so Phil "Lousy" isn't the assistant commentator.

My exact thoughts. Doubt the Ponies are making it anytime soon though...SO....we get more Housley!

McGraw is seriously the worst. I can't stand listening to this guy. Joe Schmitt at the intermission is pretty brutal as well

McCarver is the Woog/Madden/Housley of baseball.

And Joe Buck... well, he's no better.

I wouldn't mind Anthony Lapanta. He does a decent job with the Gophers, and as much as some people might not like this, Gorg would be better than Housley.

I want you MuleFarm. 8)

Bring Mazzacco and the Wooger in

In all seriousness, someone who actually understands HS hockey and doesnt just do a half assed job the night before memorizing a couple of BS facts and stupid ass 1 liners that they throw out in the intermission. I mean this is the biggest HS sports tourney in the country with the richest tradition. You would think they could do a better job with the people they choose. The guy who was doing play by play with Housley did a good job today.

Lapanta is a total bender. I was praying FSN would have dealt him at the NHL trade deadline with Zidlicky! :P

Gorg does do a great job and actually understands the game and is up to date on the teams and the players. Doesn't hurt he was a Bvlle Brave either!

According to the 45 News, the city of St. Paul calculates $7 million is spent by traveling and local fans during tourney time.

Yeah, not exactly Costas, but my reasoning is that Lapanta and Gorg do the prep zone stuff on FSN, so they know the top teams in the state fairly well. Yes, Housley coaches, but from what I can tell, the only tourney team that the Ponies played was BSM. Obviously he doesn't live in a bubble, but he probably knows way more about the teams he prepares for. Just my opinion.

I wouldn't mind seeing the A games blacked out due to lack of fan interest

The tourney did have Howard Cosell broadcasting back in the 70s and 80s...too bad they can't get someone of his caliber nowadays.

This is my first time going to the Class A quarterfinals. It hasn't exactly been thrilling, but hey, at least I don't have to listen to Phil! And I even have Pete Waggoner in the booth right behind me, so I get my own (pretty good) commentary right here.

" The longer this game is closer, The longer this game seems closer"

He just said that.
