Ranking the Sections

Post by greenway1969 » Sun Dec 16, 2012 8:26 pm

Before the holiday tournaments give us a much clearer picture, here are my section rankings.

1. Section 6 - No brainer - Minnetonka, BSM, Wayzata, Holy Family, and Eden Prairie.

2. Section 2 - Solid top four: Edina, Burnsville, Jefferson, Prior Lake

3. Section 7 - Poor performance outside of section. Duluth East, Elk River, Andover, and Forest Lake appear to be the top four for now.

4. Section 4 - Tough section to figure. After Hill-Murray, its muddled with Mounds View, White Bear, and Stillwater.

5. Section 5 - Only Blaine looks like a quality team with Centennial and Maple Grove the only other teams that might beat Blaine.

6. Section 3 - Eagan is the clear frontrunner. Hastings, Eastview and Cretin Derham-Hall could possibly compete.

7. Section 1 - The two Lakeville teams make this section stronger. Rochester Mayo and Farmington might be able to compete.

8. Section 8 - Moorhead and Roseau. Both teams have been hammered by nonsection foes. This section is very weak.

Grand Rapids isn't in the top 4 of your rankings in Section 7AA? How?

Forest Lake beat them, so they should have a leg up as of right now.

Grand Rapids- 5-2. Forest Lake- 3-3. SOS favors Grand Rapids. Andover is also 3-3. Yes, head to head favors Forest Lake, but these are YOUR rankings. You honestly think Forest Lake is better than Grand Rapids?

Forest Lake can't hang on to one section win if they keep losing to teams like Roseville and getting drilled by Moundsview. As the season goes on it will become more and more clear who the top 4 teams in 7AA are. Grand Rapids easily beating Roseau and Warroad, and then beating Duluth Marshall are starting to showcase who they really are. Not the banged up team that had an off night in FL. If GR goes 2-1 in Edina this week there is no way you can keep them out of top 4 and no way you can keep FL there. I really don't think FL belongs there now. GR and East will end up the top two seeds, Elk River an CEC will battle for 3 and 4 and Andover will edge FL for the 5 seed. Mark my words.

@TheHockeyDJ

Completely agree with you. Although I think ER will end up being a clear number 3 in the section.

Forest Lake is 5-2,and when they played GR ,Gr was missing two players. It's not like it was there whole team, give credit to FL for a good win. Yes they struggled the past couple games. Yes Forest Lake still needs to prove them selves that they can be consistent. They have 2 big games this week against Cretin and Cloquet. They can really make a statement if they win these 2 games.
