With no upsets in the quarters how do you see the semis going down. My Predictions:
Jefferson over Edina
Wayzata over Ep

You have to remember that the past two weeks wayzata was without Lucia and Wehrs and now they are both back and after watching the wayzata buffalo game lucia is 100 percent and looked just as good as he did before he went down. I would not underestimate Wayzata. Sorry if this seems a little biased because it is.

Don't get me wrong I am not underestimating Wayzata. They are a very good team, even without Lucia. I just think this is the game where EP puts it all together and plays their best. Wayzata had their year last year, and another great one this year, but I feel they come up a little short.

On another note does anyone think edina has a chance against jefferson? I dont think this one will be close. I'm gonna say Jefferson 5-2.

trojan...the hornets have put it together...do not under estimate this team...I think their defense actually matches up well against Jefferson. Regardless of what threads have said about this team, they are playing very good hockey at the end of the year. how many other teams are undefeated in their last 11 games. its a smart group of hockey players.

Jefferson vs. Wayzata final
I don't care about scores and how much they beat EP or Edina (don't make assumptions and say I think it will be a blow out, but these two teams are stepping it up and it's obvious), but a guaranteed good game.
then of courese, Jefferson rides the train to the ship.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... The game is at 3:30 at BIG on Saturday. The Wayzata/EP game is at 7:30 and I believe it is also at BIG. As for my predictions:

Jefferson 4, Edina 1
Wayzata 3, Eden Prairie 2 (OT)

Edina 4, Jefferson 3 (OT)
Wayzata 5, EP 3 (Empty Netter)

Honestly, each game could go either way. If you could place $ on these games at a casino, I would most likely stay away from both because I don't have a good idea either way.

Should be some great hockey.

Jefferson 5, Edina 4
I think Edina is playing much better and will give Jefferson a game. Jefferson has too much fire power.

Eden Prairie 4, Wayzata 3 (OT)

EP has done a great job playing to the level of their opponents. The last time EP played Wayzata, Wayzata won in OT, however, I think the Wayzata folks will agree that EP out shot Wayzata, out played them in OT as well as most of the 3rd period. Captain Meyers missed two break aways in the third and OT. Wayzata's goal came off a blind pass at center ice to Lucia for a breakaway goal - Big mistake!

If EP (who is 100% healthy for the first time this year) plays Wayzata like they did against Jefferson - EP 4, Wayzata 3 OT.

The last time EP was 100% healthy was at the beginning of the year when they traveled to Moorhead and beat and tied Moorhead, beat Warroad and beat Centennial at the EP scrimmages the week before.

Could be an interesting final - Jefferson vs. EP.

Edina 4 Jefferson 3
Edina will pull off the upset in a tough matchup
EP 2 Wayzata 4
Wayzata has some tough guys Lucia will carry them and EP is kinda weak in the net...

trojanhockey. i agree with you. these are the money games now. wayzata had a taste of getting to state...and they want more this year. they won in ot with ep last meeting. they know that ain't good enough this time...meaning they will strive to score more and often. now, with ep's defense revamped adding stu(d) bickel the tony and joey show may hit some speedbumps around the net. it's going to be one hell of game for us oldtimers!

The only opinion I don't understand are those that think Jefferson is going to walk over Edina by the tune of 4 or more goals.

I saw the Edina-Chaska game last night, if any team beats Edina by 4 or more, I'd instantly give them the nod as the favorite for state.

Too bad it's not the old days of the double header semis at the Met Center, because these two games would be worth every single penny!

I can't see Jefferson walking over Edina. If Edina won, it would be considered a mild upset, but I don't think it would come as a surprise to people. Jefferson is the favorite, but it should be a great game. Can't wait for these two games tommorow.

BabyBlueFan:

I 100% agree. It would be an upset, but it wouldn't be huge. I think the bigger surprise would be either team winning big. But I don't think Edina is that type of team to go firepower against firepower and light it up. If Edina wins, it will be a "Giles" style win, and definitely two goals or less.

I think the game at BIG will be a huge factor. Jefferson knows the rink and the bounces.

Jefferson wins 3-1. It was a great game to watch. I dont know the final shots on goal, but jefferson outshot edina through two periods 39-12.

Jefferson/Edina

Post by BabyBlueFan4Life » Sat Feb 19, 2005 8:31 pm

A great hockey game. First period play was dominated by the Jags but Edina got an odd man rush on the power play and had a pretty goal. 4 on 4 goal by Overman in the 2nd tied the game at 1. Barre Moen had a tip-in late in the 2nd on the power play. Jefferson had their chances to bury Edina but blew some opportunities near the net. Edina had a chance to tie the game on a breakaway in the 3rd but Lee came up with the save. Breakaway goal by Mike Vacanti gave the Jags the 2 goal cushion with about 6 minutes to play. The game was pretty much played in Edina's end, but Eastman had a hell of a game. Edina has a pretty good team but it was clear that Jefferson was the better squad. Section finals should be amazing.
