Where's the common courtesy Moorhead?

Post by mnhckyfan » Mon Jan 31, 2005 11:19 am

Centennial saved Moorhead parents and fans 200 tickets last year for the game at Centennial arena, so they would be sure to get into the arena after driving four hours. Centennial's athletic director called up to Moorhead on Friday, to see if they would save us 100 tickets so the parents and some fans would be sure to get a seat to the game. Their answer was, "No, we don't save tickets for anyone. We advise you to arrive early to be sure to get a ticket." So, we arrived early, purchase our tickets, then we were going to head out to get a bite to eat. Moorhead arena personnel told us, "I wouldn't leave if I were you, you might not get back in if we sell out." We replied that we had already purchased a ticket. "Doesn't matter, if season ticket holders start coming, you might not get back in." What a joke.

It goes to show that courtesy, like sense, isn't all that common anymore....

I think that sucks. That's pretty shady, I don't know if everyone from MHD should be blamed, I didn't have much to do with it, but I feel your pain, that's ridiculous. Sorry to hear that.

well for one you have to see that it was the top 2 teams in AA. If you were from Moorhead im sure you would want to see you home team play also. But i can see the other side to that too. They could have at least saved some tickets for the dedicated cenntenial fans.

upnorth07 - do you then believe Centennial should've given you that same response? what is the arena capacity? (i read the amount of fans in another thread that attended this game)100 tickets doesn't seem like too much to ask. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

sounds pretty crummy to me.

Old school

Post by gunslinger » Mon Jan 31, 2005 11:41 am

I guess Im old school on this one! This is not the Pro's, this is not College... This is high school, tickets are dealt with in a different mannor! If I were driving 4 hours to see a classic game such is that, I would understand that #1 I would have to arrive early, and #2 Once I arrive I better stay to insure that I have a seat. This is zoo seating not assigned seating.

Now I have been to games at Centennial's arenal, and I think comparing their arena to Moorrheads is like Apples to grapes! I think If I were comming from Moorhead I better be told I will have a seat because seating is so limited!

I dont think you should blame anyone but yourself on this one!

-The slinger! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

Slinger,
Your kidding right? Centennial willingly gave up 1/5th of their house to Moorhead, and you say they were just suckers?
Moorhead should understand what goes around comes around.
Not everyone has the opportunity to play home games at Aldrich, dissing arena's isn't the point.

It would not be a big deal to hold 100 tickets for them until, lets say 1/2 hour or so before game time. If the tickets are not paid for by them, put them back in general admission for sale to the public. That ensures the tickets will be sold and that the visitors get a chance at tickets.

I got a seat to the game. I could care less if I had to stand or if I had a seat. If they are going to sell me a ticket, they should let me into the arena, no matter what time I arrive for the game.

Since Moorhead has so many more seats in their arena than Centennial, it should be even easier for Moorhead to have saved us 100 seats, vs. the 200 we saved for Moorhead fans last year.

We'll see how many seats Centennial saves for Moorhead next year.

At least they had the courtesy to tell you to stay. They could've let you go get some food and then not let you in to the game.

I was there at 5:45 for a 7:30 faceoff and had to struggle to find 3 seats together. We ended up sitting in the Moorhead school section, not ideal but it was entertaining to say the least.

mnhockeyfan: I heard throught the grapevine that the fire marshall wasn't to pleased with the Warroad game which may have caused the arena to turn away fans at the door.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... epuck>Just Call Me Puck at: 1/31/05 11:54 am

Good points!!! When you have two top teams, you must get there early and stay put. Because there are no assigned seats you will loose the one you have if you get up and leave. This brings up another question. At the Richfield arena, the sections behind the net on the home side (we have signs directing home and away) are generally designated "student" sections. This way the students will not be blocking the view of other people who want to see the game. When AHA played SSM there were about 10 girls from SSM that refused to leave the section. I informed them that I cannot be held responsible for anything that happens to them in that area. I promptly informed the students to keep things in perspective. The girls eventually left without incident.

MHD sports center sucks anyways

Post by BIGBADLOUDSPUD » Mon Jan 31, 2005 12:26 pm

Its hard enough to get into the sports center even being from Moorhead. You've gotta show up early and keep your seats. Did you get in to watch the game? I went to the Centenial game last year and didn't get a ticket, maybe they should have saved more tickets.

What A bunch of cry babies, why didnt you just eat at the rink, it not like it was cia playing peqout lakes, lol. I mean come on this is #1 and #2 teams in the state for crying out loud, you sacrifice for the good games, Moorheads ticket arent numbered, and even if they saved seats for you, people would eventually move in on them anyway. Warroad wasnt crying when we played there, we ate at the game and brought in money to the association, and its was -35 not 35 above. Dont cry because you lost, Moorhead rocks, north hockey representin homie. Go back to the cities you hicks this is the ghetto you are playing in and we dont like cry babies, lol.

RL Stars- You said that you could just sell the tickets a half hour before game time. Well in case you didn't know, Moorhead's Varsity games sell most of their tickets before the JV game ends. So that wouldn't really work. The Centennial fans should have came early and ate at the rink. It has nothing to do with common courtesy, Centennial saved tickets because their rink seats about 50 people.

Also from what I remember, not many Centennial fans even went to the Centennial Moorhead game last year. Moorhead did Centennial a favor by buying tickets and getting butts in the seats.

The arena capacity sh/be left out of this thread, huh? If your going to use that point - Centennial sh/have had MORE of a reason to "JUST SAY NO".<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Yeah it was sold out because 200+ Moorhead fans were there. Also it's not hard to sell out a rinky dink rink.

No Class

Post by OsseoGuy123 » Mon Jan 31, 2005 12:55 pm

Sounds like the Moorhead school has no class. Of course you can't leave the arean and have your seats saved....but thats not what the Centennial people were complaing about. They were told if they left that they might not be able to get back in. If you buy a ticket, then I don't care what time you arrive you should be let in. Finding a good seat is a different question. But if you have a ticket how and took your money, how in the world to they get off saying that you might not get back in.

The Centennial Fans simply were looking for quid pro quo. Nothing they didn't provide for the Moorhead fans the prior year. It isn't about whinning, cry-babying, or losing.
