You're all idjits...

Did anyone ever consider moving the game to an arena with bigger capacity, providing one is available? I have no idea what the facilities in the Fargo area are like, as I have never been cursed with the obligation to go there...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

No larger facility exists. Anyway Moorhead seat 2 or 3 times what Centennial does. Why give up home ice? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

Moorhead seats

Post by Potatohead9 » Mon Jan 31, 2005 5:44 pm

The Moorhead Activities Director was on vacation that week and Im guessing that this is what caused problems. And yes I think that the crowd was smaller for the Cent. game than the Warroad game simply because the Fire Marshall was in attendance for the Centennail game. But If you are making an effort to attend a game 230 miles away you had better find out what time you need to be there. I arrive at 5pm for the bigger games and 530 to 6pm for the less competitive games, and im from Moorhead. I got quite a kick out of some of the moorhead fans who came about 500 for the Warroad (which was to start at 6pm) game and expected to sit where they normally sit. Warroad fans arrived early and took their so called seats. Warroad knows if you plan to attend a game in the North that you must arrive early. So Jaguar fans be for warned to arrive early and plan on staying after you have arrived. I will be arriving at the rink around 5pm and suggest that anyone else that plans on attending the Moorhead/Jefferson game do the same. And if you want some entertainment just watch as they start turning away late arrivals, curious fargo people thinking that this is the place to be in Saturday night in Fargo-Moorhead.

common sense mnhockey, u cant just go and get something to eat and come back and expect to get a good seat at a game like that, dont blame moorhead for that, that is lame. That's your own fault if you want to leave.

Let's get the hoard of moorhead boosters to build a bigger arena. (They managed to do it with the football "stadium".) And get a scoreboard that doesn't have Concordia plastered all over it. Ooh, and video replay too.

He wasnt expecting a good seat, he was just trying to get in. I think that would make sense seeing as though he had already bought a ticket.

get centennial a new arena!

Post by hillhockey » Mon Jan 31, 2005 7:53 pm

if the taxpayers are not willing to pay for their schools, let alone a new hockey rink, they should be driven out of town! J/K. It just made me really mad when I was in middle school and some jerks who live across the street from South Campus in WBL put up a giant VOTE NO sign. Do those people have souls? I think not!
But to get to the point: Centennial, and any other district can get funding for their schools and new arenas by petitioning our representatives to put riders on budgeting bills in Congress. If money can be spent fighting goth culture in St. Louis and on a tattoo removal parlor in some no-name town in California, then certainly the state of hockey deserves money for their schools and hockey rinks!
Ye, its probably more complicated than I made it sound, but it's worth a try. Government money well spent for a change!

I know a Moorhead JV player and he said when they were running at 4:00 that the seats were already filling up. You have to get there early if you know it is going to be a good game. I went to the Moorhead vs. Centennial game last year and they may have saved us tickets, but that didn't guarantee us a seat we had to get there early and get a good seat like normal. Anyways you are stuck up cities people and everything is about you, you, you.

There is nothing inhospitable about Moorhead people, this thread bashing them is without justification. I have no idea what happened up there this year since I wasn't there, but I've never had anything but great experiences in Moorhead and with the people there, hockey or business.

It is unfortunate that spudhockey4 and some (I emphasize "some") other apparent Moorhead posters take the bait and return slanderous comments, like calling us "...stuck up cities people." Most likely, such an attitude coming out of just a few in Moorhead this week is the result of the memory of Jefferson toasting the Spuds for the state title in '92 and '94, or perhaps its just that they haven't won a state title since...oh, well, never mind.

Actually, I still favor the Spuds to win it this year, but with extreme caution. Enjoy the in-season ranking and soft section while you can.

Saturday shall be a doozy, eh? I'll be wearing my baby blues, don't ya know.

wow, for once i'm glad i live in a smaller city. we treat everyone the same. if you're in you're in, and if you're out, you have to buy another ticket. easy as that.

Some people have hit on the real point but let me throw my nickel in as well.

Moorhead has a number of people that possess season passes. Additionally, the school districe employees get in without a ticket. I am not sure if they have the same season pass as the others, but, regardless, they get in without a ticket. There might be up to 1000 of these people out there. They never know how many of these people are going to show up.

If all 1000 show up, they can only sell 2000 tickets to the game. But, if only 200 show up, they can sell 2800 tickets at the door. Having a season pass does not guarantee you entry. It is all first come, first served.

The people selling the tickets are not the people that keep track of how many people have entered the building. That responsibility falls on someone else (the guy at the door that takes the ticket). There is no (or very little) communication between these two groups. Those two little old ladies just keep selling tickets until the guy at the door tells them not to sell anymore because they are at capacity.

Up until the Centennial game, there didn't seem to be a maximum number of tickets they could sell. But, the crowd size that was printed in the newspaper exceeded the number that the fire marshall had certified for the building, which made him look bad. So, the fire marshall let it be known that there would be a presence at the Centennial game and the capacity would not be exceeded.

Now, to the beef. I assume it was one of the ladies that sold the tickets that said the Centennial fans could not leave or they might not get in later. What she could have said was "you should go into the game now and get your hand stamped, then you may leave and be assured of reentry." Just having the ticket doesn't mean anything because of the large variable in the number of season passes that show up.

I don't think that there was any intent to be rude .... the ladies have no idea how any other rink in the world works their entry arrangements -- they just sell until they get told to stop.

A different poster said that people live and breathe hockey in Moorhead. I'm not sure about that, but people in town are pretty fired up about the Spuds this year. A lot like the folks from Centennial were last year.

Actually they are 1-1-2 against the Cougars. They tied in December and Moorhead won the shootout. Did mom want you to have the car home by 10 PM or something?

Moorhead

Post by BDS » Mon Jan 31, 2005 10:56 pm

How about the Cougars just remember that they just got smoked by Moorhead. They also just gave Moorhead a little insight into how to get into RJ Anderson's head. It wasn't hard for Loos to get RJ off his game. Also Cougars just remember that more than likely you wont make it out of sections so there for you can take your 3-0 record at the excel because you may never get back.

Not to be picky or anything, but I believe Moorhead is 1-2-1 with the tie going to Moorhead in a shootout over the past 2 years. So, as you say....hope to see you again in March!

Home Grown

Post by BDS » Mon Jan 31, 2005 11:05 pm

Home grown? So you are saying that every single player on those 8 wins grew up in the Centennial Association? I find that hard to believe, you can't honsetly say that knowbody from another association has never came to Centennial.

Good for them, they can keep telling themselves that when they watch the tape of the game and realize that they just got owned by an unstoppable Moorhead team.
