section Championship

I have to disagree with everybody that said Moorhead played sloppy against Alex. They had a tough time having the bounces going their way in front of the Alex net but they controlled every other aspect of that game. I think that Morinville is just utilizing what he has best and that would be his defense. He goes out and gets a 3-4 gaol lead in the first half of the game and then lets the defense play around with the puck for the rest. taking their time getting out of the defensive zone if they arn't getting pushed. If Alex can't touch the puck then they can't score. Just because they didn't score 20 goals, which we know they are capable of, doesn't mean that they played a horrible game. 5-1 is a pretty good whooping in my book.

I have to disagree, Alex could have led that game going into the 3rd. More than a few times the MHD goalie was looking behind him when the puck was either lost in his equip or deflected off to the side. I also saw several spuds make drop passes to no one just inside the offensive zone, not a good place for a give away. There were obvious things that were done right, nice break-outs, pretty good neutral zone play, but they just didn't look like a top 3 team last Saturday.
And birdie, good point, I wouldn't want to run into Ollie, but I wouldn't want him coaching my team either.

Why don't they move this game somewhere further north?

I know that if St. Cloud Cathedral and Sauk Rapids were playing in 2A, the game would most likely not be in Cloquet. It would be in St. Cloud.
________

Bruce Ciskie
Assistant Program Director
NewsRadio 610 KDAL
http://www.kdal.am

It doesn't make any sense to me that the MSHSL would nix such a move...unless it's costing them rent at the NCC no matter what happens. I can't imagine getting the NCC is free.

Otherwise, it makes no sense. The REA-TRF version seats enough people to accomodate such a game, and there's no way you're getting 4,000 people in the NCC for a game involving two schools a combined 450 or so miles away.

To me, it's a no-brainer...which means the MSHSL won't do it. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
________

Bruce Ciskie
Assistant Program Director
NewsRadio 610 KDAL
http://www.kdal.am

A "Citiot's" Proposal

Post by MNPuckster27 » Mon Feb 21, 2005 5:31 pm

I've never been to the REA in Theif River so I dont know if it is big enough, but wouldnt section 8 fans think it would be cool to have the 8A and 8AA championships at 6 & 8:30 in the same night in the same building?

They do that down here at Marriucci for 5AA and 6AA as well as at the coliseum for 3AA and 4AA in back to back nights. It is a great atmosphere and for usually neutral fans like me it is great watching 2 section championships in the same night at the same rink.

I agree with you Moorhead is and hour and a half away Roseau is one hour away. Makes absolutly no sense to be playing this game in St Cloud. This whole section should be played at a more nutral site anyway.

For those who are curious...the REA-TRF website says:

Quote:
Potential (collapsible) seating at walls to total 4500

Plenty big enough for a section final.
________

Bruce Ciskie
Assistant Program Director
NewsRadio 610 KDAL
http://www.kdal.am

I think it's time for the MHD. coaches to solidify some of there
lines by keeping the same kids on the same lines. It's to late in th season to be screwing up the lines. Clukey's been playing pretty well and I see he sat against ALEX. Don't know why but it's seems late in the season for screwing with the kids confidence.Maybe it's also time to pick one goalie and stick with him. All year the D has been solid. The ALEX game they even sat them. This is not the time to be searching for the right mix. They"ve had all year to decide that. GO SPUDS!

The NCC would not let section 8AA out of the contract for the final game. Spuds and the Rams were in agreement to move the finals to the Ralph in TRF. Quite possible the move will be made for the next two years and then evaluated from that point on.

I hope they do move it to the little Ralph. Better facility. Besides, with Moorhead going to the finals so much lately, and hopefully more to come, shorter drive for me! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Moorhead- -Roseau Round 2

It takes me an hour to get to the National Hockey Center. It takes me three hours to get to the Little Ralph.

There's no question in my mind where I'd rather tape the game.

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat"> Thief River Falls, MN 56701
