So which team do you all think has the strongest puck stopping power (goaltenders)?

Good Goalies

Post by Hockeyguy34 » Sat Jan 17, 2004 6:43 pm

The Rochester Red goaltender is outstanding. He is a former varsity goalie from one of their local High Schools and I saw him play against Tartan in the Rochester tournament and he made something like 48 saves. I guess he didnt make the High School team because of some of that "political" stuff they have going on in Rochster. He probably would have gone far like college or what-not had he been allowed to keep playing but instead he ended up on the Jr. Gold team. If you get a chance, watch this kid play and have a chat with him. He's a nice kid too.

Goalie

Post by RAVECOWBOY » Fri Jan 23, 2004 12:00 am

I will agree that that kid is a good goalie and no dout a nice guy but nonetheless he got cut and i have trouble seeing a college calibur player stuck in Jr. Gold. I do agree he was hard to score on though. I must say that Rave's goalie is very strong in between the posts. Look out for him and his team as well. I think many might be surprised with the skill of this team.

rochester red goalie

At the Albert Lea Tourney i talked to the Rochester Reds goalies Grandfather. He was a really nice guy and he told me that he could have played for a minnesota junior team called the Ice Hawks down there but he turned it down because he was going to make the varsity. Turned out the other goalie he was going against was none other than a coaches kid and who do you think they took. We played them and tied them 4-4. His is a good goalie but not college material.

SLP's Brad Bergaus

Post by SLP Coach » Fri Jan 23, 2004 9:07 am

Ya know, not really college material either, and wouldn't even really would be a top Varsity Tender in the state. But, SLP's Goalie, Brad Bergaus, has come up huge for us on several occasions. Every once in a while he'll let a soft one in, but he sure makes up for it for the amount of time that he spends standing on his head. His save percentage is at 90% (again isn't overly fantastic) but, he has seen an average of 35.2 Shots per game. That's on average, he has seen 40+ shots 7 times, 50+ shots twice and 60+ shots once; this year out of 21 games. His GAA isn't outstanding at 3.76 but again look at the number of shots he has seen and more importantly the number of quality scoring chances he has stiffled.

Congradulations to SLP's Brad Bergaus, and more importantly Thank You for keeping us in some tight games.

Goaltending

As a goalie I feel that i should share some knowledge. I do agree that Rochester reds goalie is good, I would also like to say, with out sounding cockie, I am good, however, after watching a game in Albert Lea, my bet is on SSP's goalie. with out a doubt i can say that he is always square to the puck, never out of position and usually controls his rebounds. I would also like to say that there are possibilities of scouts coming to games. I have seen a few around and talked to a few. Mainly Bemidji State but hey its D1. I can say that it is not entirely impossible to go D1 as a JR Gold B player. I dont expect it nor would i put money on it but its possible.

Alright let me say that Rochester red's goalie Eric Balloy formally known as bellows is a good goalie and is only getting better. But as a player of the team that cut him. The goalie getting the starting job was all conference and all state honerable mention so his spot as starting varsity goalie is rightfully deserved. I think Bellows should have made it as a back up and gotten some playing time but it's good to hear he is ripping it up in junior gold. GO BELLOWS

first let me say that obviously hockeyguy34 is this balloy kid. Second know matter what excuses he has for getting cut, he obviously wasnt good enough to make the team. Yes maybe he is doing well, and congradulations to him, but talking yourself up on a chat board will get him nothing

Post by BellowsInNet » Wed Feb 11, 2004 7:35 pm

Ive just been reading this thing for updates. I remember talking to that guy at the rochester tourny. Thanks to ya'll that said nice things. As for century, Kangass got his position because his daddy is good friends with coach fruits. He's the most cocky goalie I think I've ever known. Attitude is #1? Yeah right. Kangass walks around like his poo doesnt stink. Thats a good attitude. Right. He earned that title by getting 15-20 shots a game, from the top of the circles because Century had the #1 defence in the big nine. Now that the good, big players are gone, century is finally knowing what its like to lose. Anyway, we're now 4 games away from playoffs and my team has an 8-2-2 district record and me myself I have a 1.58GAA with only 18 total goals against. Now, I dont know what that says about me or anything because this is "just jr. gold" but I'd like to think that in a co-varsity position I could be doing just as well. But, we'll never know because my dad isnt important and we'll just never give me the chance. Again, thanks for the nice comments. I appritiate it. I'll keep stopping pucks if your team keeps shooting them at me. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> Laters.

I love how this balloy kid goes on this mesege board and starts talkin highly of himself and how he lost and got cut to kangas cuz of his daddy supposly. Yeah im sure you got cut cuz of this dad. Dont think u a coach will take the better goalie on any team? i mean come on people, why on earth would the coach pick the worse of the 2? Also if you or people think that this bellows kid has college material or prospects or is that good ur crazy..... if u think hes gonna play colege hockey after not even making ur HS Team ur nuts<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Hate to tell you blueliner, but you're waaaaaaaaay off base. Yes, this happens (called reality) and has ever since Coach Fruitiger started. He has "decided" to cut many senior players to brew a "dream team" and it has done nothing but bite him in the A*ss. This coach just doesn't get it. Even if the players are equal in talent, don't you think a senior player would go the extra mile????? Duh, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out! But, he thinks he can cultivate them for a couple years and make them champs!LOL All the "fruit" has done is devastate seniors who were all about hockey. This guy ought to be outlawed along with any other coach who thinks that way. I personally think he is taking up undeserved oxygen on this planet and NO, I'm not related to the goalie in question. Yes, I do have a son playing on Roch Red and no he doesn't go to Century, but word travels. Century coaching is so political that there are 2 players who are varsity material who play JG just because they are mature enough to realize it's not your skill level that gets you on the team, it's how influencial your parents are that counts so, they don't even bother trying out. These players have parents that have influence, but they don't want to play "the game". Enough said!

With about 99% of teams being made for any level Bantams and up obviosly the better players will make the team. All the "fruit" does is devestate seniors that care about only hockey? wow good joke there, how does he devestate seniors? Century has been to the Section Finals the last 3 years and played in the best HS hockey game in rochesters history last year. Look back to thier first section championship game. That team had NO talent, No skill and they got there. All they had was heart. That left an impression on the other players for years to come. I belive Century will get over the hump this year in the section game and you and bellows will be watching from the glass at Xcel........

Yeah, that actually wasnt me. Blueliner-dont you have something better you could be doing? Its a Jr. Gold B chat room/thingy? And ah, whatever...the season turned out how the season turned out. Sure, I wasnt happy with where I was playing, but I made the best of it. I actually have nothing against fruits THAT personally, I just wish I could have been one of his "favorites".

I really think that what you people are saying is wrong! i mean Eric is a really great goalie i mean i have been to almost everyone of their hockey games because my brother plays defense on there team. I think that Eric could possibly go to college off this i mean he is an amazing goalie! he has saved or buts many times and does deserve a spot on the Century varsity team! i do not know what the coaches were thinking when they cut him! well GO ROCHESTER RED!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

What happened to the super goalie from rochester.14 goals in two games and your out ? Its easy to put up impressive numbers in a weak league. MHL goalies rule. tops in region tourney were tartans, elk rivers and burnsvilles.

Have to agree with Elkman, Not too impressed with Roch. Red Goalie. Not to cut him off at the knees or anything, I just don't think he's Varsity material. Not around here anyways. Good season though. It was a fun game on Friday night.
BVILLE -

I believe that the tiny titans goalies deserve the recognition do to how they played threw out the playoff's and regions. these 2 were tested and stood strong! Even as a player i believe they were also a significant role in helping us knock off the number 1,2,3 and 5 ranked teams, and ending a great season by winning the Minnesota Regional State Tournement
Congrades Baarstad ant Petchen
EP (RED) 4 Vs titans 7
EP (BLACK) 2 Vs titans 5
Hastings 4 vs titans 6
Elk River 1 vs titans 5

11 goal against the top teams in the state is not bad. look at the record 4-0 thats what matters. If not for the goalie in the first period of the championship game it could have easily been 3-0 elks. they played big when it mattered. and just as importantly they earned the opertunitie to play on sunday. Elk River wouldn't have been thier either if not for thier goalie playing excellent on friday and sat. especially in the final minutes of both games. Good goalies show up for big games and those kids did !

Both tartan and elks goalies played great games on sun. both goalies made some spectacular saves and kept the teams in the game for most of the game. Tartans offense just happened to put up a few more goals!!! GO TINY TITANS!!!! Hopefully Tartan Varsity follows in their footsteps!

I think the defense definitely helped. Our job was try to box everyone out to keep the shots further out/bad angles and limit the good scoring opps close to the net. When we got control we'd try to catch a wing on a high breakout. It seemed to work. We had some breakaway goals. our D still weren't perfect, but we got a lot better in the weeks before the playoffs.
The cool thing for the TT goalies is that they both got to play 2 playoff games. i saw some teams only use one goalie in the playoffs.

have a nice summer! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">

TD
