Post by Hockey Dad » Thu Jun 27, 2013 1:03 pm

Hello,
My 8yr old son finished his first year of hockey and I am begining to think about what skates to by him for next season any recommendations would be great was hoping to be in the 150 range but will spend more if needed. I did not skate growing up so i am not sure what to get

Thanks for your help

I've got 12 and 15 y/o skaters ... neither still have figured out which is their favorite.

Mostly because dad does the skate lease program ... they get what they get!

The differences the kiddos have expressed is that one does not like Bauers (too tight on the heel ... aka Bauer bumps) And the other thinks the Easton's feel cheap/flimsy.

Don't be afraid to experiment. They're going to need a new pair by next season anyways ...
Sorry, fresh out, Don't Really Give Any.

My advice is to go to a store that has knowledgable sales people, who don't try to sell you the most expensive skate. Your little guy will not have the strength or stride power to maximize the highest end boot. So don't feel bad about not spending the most $$. Comfort is key!!
