2009 Red River Mud Sharks looking for players and coaches

Post by Air Force 1 »

The Red River Mud Sharks AAA Hockey Club is launching our recruiting campaign for the 2009 AAA hockey season. The 2008 season has exceeded all expectations as this club grows. In April our ’98 team captured 3rd place at the Ice Palace Cup at Ralph Engelstad Arena, in May they won the Championship at the Fargo Spring Meltdown, and they had a strong 2-1-1 showing at the Pepsi Cup in Fargo, missing the 3rd place game there by losing out in the third tiebreaker to the Minnesota Northern Wings. In Sept they captured the Under Armour AAA Hockey Classic Championship in Brookings, SD. Our ‘97s have claimed a 3rd place finish in the Fargo Spring Meltdown. And our '99s skated to a 3rd place finish in the Under Armour AAA Hockey Classic. Our ’95 and ’99 teams have each skated in their first ever tournaments and showed well as those players and coaches are still getting to know each other.

For 2009, our third season, we are again looking to expand our club. Our goals are to maintain current teams, form a 2000 birth year team, revisit our ’96 team and relaunch that, and revisit our girls program targeting U10, U12, and U14 teams. With those goals in mind, we need coaches and players at all levels. If you are interested in coaching or playing summer hockey, NOW is the time to get registered to play for the Red River Mud Sharks!

Current projections for 2009 fees are in the $350-$375 range for new players. Included in that are a minimum of 12 games in three tournaments, 9 practices, and a game jersey/socks that are yours to keep. Primary tournaments we are planning on entering are the Ice Palace Cup in Grand Forks, the Fargo Spring Meltdown and Pepsi Cup in Fargo. There will be slight adjustments to targeted tournaments for 2000 birth year boys and the girls teams as some tournaments do not have divisions for all the teams we could possibly field.

Thanks for checking out the Red River Mud Sharks, we hope to hear from you soon!

Hey I had a few questions about the team. When are most of the practices and tournmanets? Are you looking for volunteer or paid coaches? Who picks the teams?
