That's fun press for Luverne! I'd quibble with one line in that though - the coach said their top line can play with anyone. That is clearly not true. The best of them played a bit of elite league hockey this fall, and looked - maybe not out of place, but well behind the play. The skill is high, but the pace of play, the quickness of decision making, is not at the same level of top metro players. It's not her fault - it would be hard to go from playing the 106th hardest schedule in Minnesota (so far) to playing against top lines at top teams. She has a chance to be among the state's all-time leading scorers by the end of her career, which is amazing! And all she can do is play her best against the opponents they schedule. But wracking up 4.8 points per game (so far) against the teams they play does not help predict performance against a top schedule - it is just not the same as the kids playing top 20 AA schedules scoring 2 to 3 points per game (like the kids on the Blake, Centennial, Lakeville South or Tonka top lines), or kids scoring 1.5 points per game against top 5 schedules. It's too bad - they should push themselves by playing a tougher schedule - it would prepare them much better to avoid another 8-0 loss in the first round at state.

Looking at Luverne's stats I see that Kamryn is committed to Minnesota State, so I guess we'll have to wait a few years to see how she fares against D1 competition. Mankato's coach must see potential, much like the U's men's coaching staff saw potential with Luverne's Jaxon Nelson.
