How's the season going?
I haven't heard much about the Crunch this winter. How's the season going? I heard somewhere that the Crunch beat the SSM U16 team. Is that true? If so, the team has come a long way in a year+. Who's doing well? Any girls looking at college hockey?
Indeed the Minnesota Crunch did defeat the Shattuck 16's 3-1 just after xmas. We currently have several players who are in discussions with d-3 colleges and one with 3 d-1 colleges . We will return 6 players next year. including Bri Schulz goaltender sporting a 93% save percentage. In addition the Crunch have just joined an alliance with THe Westman Wildcats , Eastman selects and ThunderBay Queens. Each team will host a showcase for College coaches and scouts next season and all four teams will be at all showcases. Currently we are receiving inquirries on our team which have far exceeded previous history. Sorry for the lack of updates but as you can see we have had a few things on the plate. Players wishing to be considered for next years team can email me at minnesotacrunch@hotmail.com
Crunch gain Calder for 2010/2011 season
The Minnesota Crunch learned Saturday during a meeting in Fairbault that Hopkins star forward Kersten Calder will join the Crunch for the 2010/2011/ season. Calder a vital piece to the state bound Hopkins high school team has been in conference with several D-1 schools but has decided to refine her game for a year with the Crunch. I have spoke with several D-1 coaches who have interest in Kersten said Dan Clafton of the Crunch and all agree that this will give her a distinct advantage for the future. Kersten could go D-1 right now at any of several locations across the US Clafton went on to say, but this will allow her to come out as an impact player imeadiatlyfollowing 60 games with us. That is what the colleges want and thats what we will try and provide . To get a player of Kerstens ability we feel extreamly fortunate and look forward to working with her.
