2016 State Tournament - Pick the Winners Challenge!

Continuing the tradition of past years we invite all forum readers to participate in this year’s “2016 State Tournament - Pick the Winners Challenge!”.

To retain our amateur status no prizes will be awarded, however the winner will be granted entrance into the prestigious "Minnesota Girls High School Hockey Forum Prognosticator Hall of Fame". Miracle of miracles, at least based on this year’s contests, I happen to be the defending champion and will attempt to at least have a respectable showing this year. But the competition will be stiff from fellow forum members like panpan111, who finished 2nd last year and first in this year’s AA Section Contest, and massalsa, who is just coming off his big win in the 2016 Section A Contest.

In any case it goes without saying that the more forum readers who meet this challenge head-on by choosing to participate, the greater the chance that a new champ will enter "The Hall" in 2016. And, even if you are unlucky and don't do especially well, it’s still a fun way of following both tournaments as you cheer on your favorite team(s)!

Here are the contest rules:

1. Class A predictions (all games) must be posted by Wednesday, February 17 at 11:00AM.
2. Class AA predictions (all games) must be posted by Thursday, February 18 at 11:00AM.
3. We will predict scores for the quarterfinal games only. Predicting the WINNER of each quarterfinal game is worth 3 points. Any correct quarterfinal SCORE adds 2 bonus points.
4. Predicting the WINNER of the four semifinal games is worth 5 points (each).
5. Predicting the WINNER of the Third Place and Consolation games is worth 4 points (each).
6. Predicting the WINNER of the two championship games is worth 10 points (each).

With 15 minutes to play Warroad is leading Northfield 3-0. The play was pretty even in the first, with shots 7 apiece. Warroad found their legs in the second and has dominated the action since then.

And it ends 3-0. Shots on goal were 36-12, but Northfield hung in there and made the Warriors work for their three scores.

In our contest all but one favored the second seeded Warriors, and they add 3 points each. With his 3-1 call rascalbrock came closest on the score, but no bonus points awarded this game.
