Fergus Falls got screwed on those pairings. They should have been the 5 seed.

I think you may be right. They probably suffered in the coaches vote because of a lack of publicity and visibility .

I know I'm looking forward to seeing the"OTTERS" play...

The Otters didn't get any favors in the seeding process...they deserved better. They were 4th in the QRF and 5th in the KRACH. By all accounts, Fergus should be playing P/H and Mankato East should be playing Warroad. St. Paul United and Lourdes are 6 and 7 depending on which poll you are looking at. Fergus is essentially the 7th seed the way this plays out - not right.

The class A and class AA quarterfinals and 3 rd place games will be streamed at prepspotlight.tv for free this year. In past years, there was a charge.

I think its great that they will be streaming the quarters for free (and streaming the 3rd place game at all!).

Watched a good portion of the Breck/Fergus Falls game. Breck was clearly the deeper team with more skill up and down their lineup, but the Otters gave them a great opening game. Final score was 2-0, with Mobley getting the insurance goal in the final minute.

Mound Westonka totally dominates for nearly the whole game, getting 73 shots on net , but they needed a goal in the last minute to put Mankato East away. 4-2 final. In so doing they keep their season unbeaten streak alive.

Should be a competitive semi on Friday vs. Breck.

I dont think that the 2/3 matchup will be as competitive as you say nu2. I agree with bodyup after watching these two games today. Fergus definitely got hosed with the matchup vs Breck. I have thought all season long that Mound/Westonka has feasted on inferior teams and played well enough to tie or win against teams in the top 1/3 of of the overall MNHS KRACH rankings. I think that unless their Ms. Goalie candidate plays as well as the Mankato goalie did today it will be a 4+ goal victory for the Mustang. (I absolutely could be wrong but this is a forum with opinions and is fun to make predictions)

SPU could hang with Warroad tonight with some good goaltending and solid defending but I predict that Warroad opens it up in the 3rd to pull away and win by 2+. The Lourdes/Proctmantown game could be a good one...its a tossup in my mind (despite its #21 vs #42 KRACH matchup).

I see Mound Westonka giving Breck a competitive game, keeping it within one or two until the last half of the third, when Breck pulls away.

I think Warroad will have an easy time with SPU - predict they will win by at least four.

I agree that the Lourdes/Proctor Hermantown game will be very competitive, will likely go down to the wire, maybe overtime. Coin flip?

Dont know why i thought it was nu2 instead of you MNHockeyFan. Sorry for the mistake. I like that we think opposite of each other for the 2/3 matchup and the Warroad/SPU game. Will be fun to watch!

SPU is a jekyll/hyde type team...who knows who will show up tonight?!?

Well, as for as Fergus Falls, who knows? They may have missed the #5 spot by 1 vote. Those that think they got a raw deal can watch Lourdes and see what happens...maybe Lourdes and Fergus meet in consolation final and settle it.

For some reason, I don't see a close game between Breck and M Westonka....When playing the 1st game at state tourney all teams play tight because of nerves, some more than others. I expect Breck to play much better Friday, they have played against the top teams and played well. Their experience could be a big advantage.

I really hate to say that I told you so - again - but I will anyway. LOL!
But having watched the two teams battle it out, I do think P/H has a little more talent and depth to give Warroad a better game in the semi. But give Lourdes credit, they never quit and forced the Mirage to giving everything they had to give to pull out the victory.

Once again in Class A, the 4/5 seed game is the closest and most entertaining to watch, which I guess is to be expected.

I was expecting a little more out of Farmington earlier today, but they were simply no match for Andover as more than half the game was played in running time.

And unfortunately the second looks to be another one-sided affair, with Brainerd/Little Falls up 2-0 after one. White Bear didn't have a shot on goal until very late in the period, and that was a weak one that came on a power play from long distance. Calla Frank has been busy in net for the Bears with 13 saves, but I'm sure she would like both goals back, especially the 2nd one: a weak shot from around the faceoff dot that she saw all the way, but uncharacteristically let in. With White Bear's lack of offense she can't give up any more if her team has any hope of coming back.

You have been right on target so far MNH!

Two blowouts today as the Warriors win 4-0. Final shot totals were 39-12. Hopefully this evening's games will be closer and provide more excitement.

In the Class A Consolation Bracket:

Fergus Falls 7, Mankato East 1
Ellie Andersen with the hat trick (plus one assist); Sophie Rausch with two of her own, plus three assists for a five point game.

Rochester Lourdes 4, St. Paul United 3 (OT)
Despite being outshot 28-39 Rochester Lourdes tops St. Paul United 4-3, in overtime. Emma Schmitz, a junior and Sacred Heart commit, had a hat trick and scored the game winning goal in OT. (I'm guessing she was the game's No. 1 Star! ;))

No such luck. Edina is up 5-0 with about three minutes to go in the 2nd period.

Is it me or does it appear that the attendance is really down...I remember years where the 1st day games produced some nice crowds, but, this seems very light..

Edina never has many..but East Ridge is a large school and I would have expected a larger contigent..

$19/ adult plus parking doesn't help, $12/ student either
