Via email today, this isn’t exactly what I thought the league would be.

With the Girls High School season now scheduled to start on November 30th the Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association (MGHCA) is offering an opportunity for High School Girls to participate in the XPL.

This League will consist of 10 games (no practices) and will be played at various rinks throughout the state of hockey. The team that the girls are assigned to will not travel long distances and will play games in your arena or nearby arenas. We will try to place as many members from the same school on the same team, but can't guarantee that they will all be from the same 2019-2020 team. This League will be operated by the PPL(Premier Prep League Staff). Please pass this email and registration information along to your players for them to register. We need them to register by Monday, October 12, so we can create teams and schedules for each team.

It doesn't make it worth signing up for, but this isn't the only entity offering a girls' bridge league.

What are some of the other options?

Looking at the schedules for the OS “in-between” season, there should be some really outstanding games during the month of November between many of the top teams in the state.

That's good as with many of these "conference-only" schedules there is a large disparity between teams and that's going to lead to non-competitive games for a large part of the season for some teams.

The arrowhead area teams are doing their own "in-between" season. It's a big ask to have a bunch of girls go down to the metro for another month of hockey, considering a lot of kids did it for the elite league, premier prep, dynamo, etc. for the last month.

You are correct. Looking at the Metro West, there will be a handful of “competitively challenged” games this winter. Having BSM get a chance to play the likes of Andover, Stillwater, Breck, etc, regardless of the situation, should be fun for the teams. Even though it’s not technically part of the regular season, these girls all know each other and the intensity level will no doubt be high.
