Maple Grove, Centennial, and Armstrong
Armstrong over Maple Grove 2-1
Centenial over Armstrong 4-1. Centenial scored 3 goals with less then 3 minutes to play after Armstrong had played 4 straight periods. Centenial looks like they will be very good. 4 girls who can really shoot the puck.

In Rochester, Mayo/Lourdes, BSM, Totino-Grace and Novas.

The Mayo/Lourdes v. BSM was good. BSM won 1-0, but had more serious scoring chances than Mayo. BSM is loaded with good players. Mayo is solid, but needs to find some scoring.

Totino was surprising in that they got dominated by both Mayo and BSM. Totino has one great forward, but not a whole lot, otherwise. Not sure about scores other than the Mayo game; 3-1, but Mayo didn't let them out of their own zone in the first half and coasted the last half.

The Novas look middle of the road, but I didn't see them much. On the other sheet of ice, there were Rochester JM/Century, Eastview, Waseca and Dodge County. I didn't see much of those teams, so don't know much to say.

I was also at the Rochester scrimmages. One possible explanation for some of the teams not playing their best games is that some teams, i.e. Totino, are still evaluating players so they are playing everyone - even girls that may not make the team. Have to agree re. BSM. That is one team to watch this year. A lot of talent and speed.

Bemidji played Warroad and somebody else. Maybe Apple Valley? I know for sure they lost to Warroad but not sure about the other game.

How's Sarah Erickson working with the Bemidji team? Should we be expecting great things?

Maple grove and Centenial where playing 4 lines and 6 D each. While Armstrong was with it's varsity team. However armstrong is getting better.

Armstrong skated 3 and 2/3 lines and 6 D as well. They brought up 2 JV players to skate with them because they would be playing Maple Grove and Centenial straight games. They then held Centenial to only 1 goal until the last 5 minutes of the game when they scored 3 quick ones. Two of those goals were when the JV players where on the ice. Armstrong is going to surprise some good teams.

And they'll get beat by some bad ones.
The curse of mediocrity.

She is looking really good. I think she will have trouble scoring because teams seem to be sending 2 or 3 players on her at once. I think if her linemates can produce Bemidji will do fine.

Yes interesting. Now, SSP did outplay NP. I wouldn't say outplayed them badley, but pretty good. NP scored on a nice 2-1 play that even IF Porter was in net, she probley would not have saved. NP goalie was pretty darn good. Always on her toes, in position and a good glove. SSP's 1st line really only has 4 players on it, as the C and RW don't even look to their LW #5? SSP will go as far as their 2 F's-2 D and G can take them. Which will be into late Feb.

Tech crushed Monticello last night in a scrimmage. I believe the final was somewhere around 8-1. Dold had a couple of goals, Kaasa posted a shutout (other goalie let in the one goal), and Tech really just looked strong overall.
