You need to know the right people to get you a tryout. Most of the very best do get found. the best advice I have is to work very hard and try to get nominated for a Phase 1 National Development Program (NDP) tryout. If you can get past Phase 1 and on to Phase 2, that would be best. This is where the majority of the AAA teams find their kids if they haven't found them through other events. I've seen some amazing players that I never knew about come through the NDP program.

I'd like to see an Elite league in fact based on the NDP. The girls that are Phase 2 or higher would be a tier 1 group, the nominees/Phase 1 players would be a tier 2. Or, something like that, to play the following Fall & Spring in an elite league.

I've also heard it discussed that the potential exists for such teams to play B&A and qualify for U19 State and nationals at the U19 (88-89) level for next year, and unfortunately the U16 level (90-91) would only get to play a league but is not eligible for state and nationals in MN/Minkota.

I'm guessing that you could get 2 top U19 and 2 top U16 teams as well as 2-3 tier 2 U19 and 2-3 tier 2 U16 teams. This could be played (a league) many different ways with crossover between groups/ages/tiers/etc. and would help develop more players (as far as any league could help develop players). It would also have the potential to add other opportunities for visibility (if we don't already have enough)...

It would seem that then Summer AAA and teams that go to VT, Canada, Stevens Pt, UND, etc. for Late Summer/Early Fall tourneys could still be formed and done seperately - and - we could likely attract some teams to play in events here in MN maybe even in the Spring & Fall (other AAA teams???) if we had such a setup arranged...

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeyfan at: 3/7/06 3:32 pm

I pulled up the SSM roster and crossed checked it with the USA selects program, no need to check out the Rapids roster...the question is with them is did any of them "NOT" make it. Does anyone have any info on any of the SSM players and how they rate vs. the Rapids top kids?

2&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Alyssa Breu
3&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Natalia Mendoza
4&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Sasha Sherry 89/90
5&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Monique Lamoureux 89/90
6&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Jocelyne Lamoureux 89/90
7&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Jennifer Porter
8&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Allysen Weidner
9&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Jen Schoullis
10&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Amanda Castignetti 89/90
11&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Amanda Rucinski
12&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Jessica Cohen 91
15&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Kayleen Miller
16&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Danielle Hirsch 87/88
17&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Emily Kranz 87/88
18&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Brianna Decker 91
20&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Jessica Edward
21&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Gabby Mazade
22&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Sarah Murray
Goalies&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp
#&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Name
1&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Barb Bilko
23&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Paige Keranen 89/90

There was no tryout , the same type of situation with Walser
or ANYONE else trying to put a team together for a tournament , Someone
decides to organize and coach a team , for whatever ! B&A ,
fall league ... they then ask players that they are familar with
or they know personnally , if they want to play on their team ,
they keep asking players of their choice until their roster is filled.. teams are selected the same way for AAA teams .. No
Tryouts ..The only programs that have tryouts that I know of are : THOROUGHBREDS , NDP , OS Elite league and a few other
events that may post a tryout , Junior FEST ect. . other than
that it basically is up to whomever is organizing and coaching
the team , to ask whomever they choose to participate . Anyone wishing to organize a team can do the same thing .
the players then decide whom they want to play for . FWIW
as far as my situation goes , the drinking buddy's became drinking buddy's after we met at an off season event WHERE our kids were on the same team , or during many seasons of running into each other while our kids were opponents ..NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND ..... I met my buddy's through my
kid's teams , she did not meet the teams because of my buddy's .

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... g>FSDOG at: 3/8/06 2:41 pm

Typically what I've found is that the best players get asked first for these sort of events, but where it gets interesting for some is who is the "best." I would say, without any question, that the Rapids roster contains many of the very best players in the state in this age range. Remember that you have to be an 88 or 87 bday to be on this list too. And, I'm sure there are some players that others may argue should be on such a list, but we don't know that they weren't asked and could have declined???

FSDOG's situation is like that of many I think. You end up spending so much time with the same people that you end up friends too.
