Pirates Osborn moving onto greener pastures?

Post by hockeysense »

According to the local radio station in Crookston, Savannah Osborn & her family are moving to Bemidji. Her parents are both originally from that area. Apparently the goalie postion there is up for grabs plus it is a AA program. My gut feeling is that all of this is being done in the name of hockey to obtain better exposure/opportunity. Osborn had a disappointing year with the Pirates. This past season she played in 13.25 games & had a .855 save percentage & a 2.26 gaa. Location will make no difference if Osborn does not pick up her play this coming season. Sometimes people get blinded by hockey including me in the past. I hope things work out but personally do not think it is worth the trouble. Remember, you can't eat your hockey jersey.

I can't believe that she would be leaving for hockey necissarily as Burke - who she split with - graduates.

Here are their stats:

Amy Burke

Senior G

Goaltending MIN GA GAA
Season Totals: 663 12 0.92

Contest Totals

Date Opponent Result Shots Min GA Saves Shut Out
11/17/2005 Detroit Lakes W 4-0 51 0 8 1
11/22/2005 Wadena-Deer Creek W 11-0 51 0 8 1
11/26/2005 St. Paul United W 6-1 51 1 15
12/3/2005 Lake of the Woods W 3-0 51 0 7 1
12/12/2005 Bemidji L 2-4 51 3 13
12/17/2005 Little Falls W 12-0 51 0 9 1
12/22/2005 Park Rapids W 7-0 51 0 15 1
1/7/2006 Thief River Falls W 7-2 51 2 24
1/19/2006 East Grand Forks W 11-0 11 51 0 1
1/24/2006 Warroad L 2-3 51 3 20
1/28/2006 Moorhead L 2-3 51 3 23
2/3/2006 Park Rapids W 4-0 51 0 14 1
2/9/2006 Roseau W 3-0 51 0 9 1

Savannah Osborn

Junior G

Goaltending MIN GA GAA
Season Totals: 683 27 2.02

Contest Totals

Date Opponent Result Min GA Saves Shut Out
11/15/2005 Warroad L 3-4 51 4 20
11/19/2005 Lake of the Woods W 11-1 51 1 8
11/25/2005 Park Center T 4-4 59 4 16
12/2/2005 International Falls W 6-2 51 2 9
12/10/2005 Roseau W 4-3 56 3 19
12/16/2005 Brainerd W 3-2 58 2 15
12/20/2005 Thief River Falls W 7-1 51 1 11
1/6/2006 Grand Rapids W 6-3 51 3 22
1/17/2006 Fargo South (N.D.) I hope you are right ghshockeyfan, it would be a shame if she left her team and friends for her senior year. Hope to see her between the pipes for the Pirates this coming season. Crookston has a very good program and will be a state contender but will need Osborn to shore up the goaltending positon with the loss of Burke.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... eysense at: 3/11/06 2:20 pm

Both were all-state HM G according to AP, so losing both in the same season would definitely hurt! Although, if her family is moving, that is understandable as well.

Heard through the grapevine that Arola, from Grand Rapids, and Christopherson, from Park Rapids, are also transferring to Bemidji. Interesting......

Iceman, you seem to be all knowing somewhat like ghs or Johnnie Carson. What do you know about the post that was made on kroxam.com stating Osborn was moving onto Bemidji? Please send me an official confirmation.

horsesense -
Just call me, "The Great Karnac" (i.e. Johnnie Carson).
As far as Osborn goes, right now it's a 50-50 chance she moves on. I believe she's receiving some pressure from her teammates to stay put.
You with all your knowledge, wisdom and contacts, should go out and recruit C-town a goalie and 2 forwards. Oh wait, C-town is still all homegrown girls, so maybe you better not!

Icy, I heard that the Lamoureux sisters from Grand Forks were looking to land on a local HS team . They are too far away from home at Shattuck and are homesick.. As far as a tender, I do know of another Nodak looking to make the move. Please make the proper arrangements to provide for housing ect. If you have any questions please call your contacts in Warroad. I will continue to keep my open for you. Just to add some light on it, Mr. Osborn has family in Bemidji in business. That brings him and his fmaily here. At least 2 brothers, mother in Bemidji.

I assume his daughter could have stayed in C-town with friends or relatives, but

she didn't.
