ND girls
I've been noticing a few D1 and D3 rosters with some ND girls on them recently. Mikka Nordby of Wisconsin, Amy Currier of St. Cloud, Nicole Nelson of Mercyhurst. Also the Lamoureoux (sp?) twins of shattuck are orginally from Grand Forks, ND. Girls hockey seems to be growing there . I've heard there's a few more that we should watch out for. Don't remember the names off the top of my head. Anyone knowledgable about our neighbor state's progress and girls to watch for?

Thanks, this helps for stats I guess. Has anyone seen Emily Sell or Rachel Hennessy play?

Re: thanks
Emily Sell is a real nice player had the chance to work with her last summer. I didn't remember her being a ND gal though. Real pleasure to coach, hard worker good hockey player.

One ND girl that is very good, I would say near or at the same level as the Lameroux girls w/o the PIM(at least the times I've seen/coached her) is Jade Schirado. Strong skater, good hockey sense, and all-around solid player.

Re: thanks
I agree with JJ on both! AND - JJ has worked with a lot of the North MN/ND & elite players in general too so this is a BIG compliment!!!

I haven't forgotten that whoopin' your N put on my SW squad @ NDP Phase 2 a few years back! I can remember looking at that N roster and not knowing the kids, but we all know who they are now!

Wow
That's right, that north team was something special. I, like you, remember looking at the Phase 2 rosters and thinking no one would be able to come close to the SW team. There were some very good players on that squad. I also didn't recognize a single name on the north roster, but a good few of them are common names to those who follow Girls hockey now:

Osborn
Lameroux x2
Wheelhouse
Erickson, E
Erickson, S
Sell
Schirado

I will have to go back and look at that roster, because I know there are some good players I'm leaving off. That group was fun to watch skate.

Re: Wow
Looking back, that team was stacked to say the least! If anyone ever doubts the level of talent that the North produces, they should look at that NDP roster for evidence that there's amazing talent up north!

North
I do remember that team myself. Was that 2 years back? I didn't realize until you pointed it out that those players were no-names, and now are some of the most competitive players today!

Re: North
That was indeed 2004 NDP!!! North Phase 2 @ New Hope 88/89 U16 at that time...

Those players were all unknowns to us, and I can remember looking at the SW roster vs North and thinking that we'd smoke N, but, it didn't happen that way, and a bunch of N players stepped out and are amazing players...
