No matter what happens, some parent whose kid didn't get picked will always cry politics. I think the list looks pretty good. Should be an awesome weekend to watch.

If you would have seen the tryouts up in St. Cloud and look at one of the goalie picks, you'd be sayin' politics. Nixon wasn't even a question about going, I'm not complaining about that, she's a good keep. But I honestly question the pick of the other goalie. She had the most goals against, let in many weak goals, and had troubles with the goalie drills. From what I saw in the stands, she was the weakest of the four and I know I'm not the only one who thought that... I'm not going to do any more complaining than that. I'm not denying any one of those girls their right to be there... But if you don't think there's politics invovled with these tryouts... Wow, so nieve.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes">

The picks for the defense out of the 88/89 central group seem a little strange, I can only wonder what the judges were watching.

Regarding political influence, I think we have to remember that many of these players come with a certain pedigree and many have been observed quietly in other places. A kid can have a bad tryout but still make the team because coaches see and know things others do not. Likewise another can have a great tryout but get bumped by this same kid who didn't. It doesn't seem fair, but by the time these girls reach Phase II, there are a lot of people whose job it is to assess talent and know much more about the players than we do as observers to a single tryout. Sometimes judgement can appear as politics.
