Either that, or they ran into hometown officiating bias... This is team IL in IL is it not? Looked a little like there may have been some retaliation business going on & perhaps the game wasn't particularly well officiated. I'd like to hear an eyewitness account.

Looks like to me that team Minnesota ran into a hot goalie. Team Minnesota out shoots Team Ill. 31 - 16 and looses 3 - 1 with an empty net goal. The whole story for this game in my mind is the goaltending job Team Ill. did. Your thoughts.

I wasn't there but according to the girls on the team, they did get the hometown treatment. Apparently some Mn goals were disallowed and an Il player would take a Mn girl out but then the call would be against Mn.

3 Minnesota goals were disallowed, refs gave no reasoning why they were disallowed. Jones is out for today's game, apparently words exchanged with a ref. Also, unbelievable calls against Minnesota, we were totaled homered by Team Illinois refs. One of the refs can hardly skate, it is ridiculous.

I called this one. I wasn't there obvioulsy. Here's the report I received: three goals waved off against illinois tonight that were obvious goals. all three goals that were waved off, the puck was in the net and the refs claimed they didn't see them go in....funny thing is, the linesman picked the puck out of the back of the net on all three goals, and none of them were contrversial.....

Seriously? Head contact has been a point of emphasis the past couple of years...at least on the boys' side. I've seen it called quite a bit.

It isn't always called head contact. In the girls game most refs would probably just call it checking. Could also be roughing or elbowing but any contact to the head is supposed to be called.

Seriously. I think I understand the concept of the penalty, but I haven't seen it called. Must be something that is bigger away from the G HS game - at least the terminology is different. I think this used to be roughing/elbowing or in G HS checking I suppose as you say...

Contact to the head should always be called, but hardly ever is. At all levels. Is anyone surprised about the C.Jones game DQ?

Looks like Minnesota spent a little too much time in the penalty box and ran up against some hot goalies as well. The referees that officiate these games are definitely not new to the game and in the past have been at least a level 3. USA Hockey does try to bring many females to this event and the National Tournament to officiate. The style of play across the country differs in roughness and Minnesota might have been more aggressive in their play than other teams. I noticed on the rosters that Minnesota was the only team that brought a majority of seniors to this event. Should they should select sophmores and juniors like the rest of the teams for the future?

This tournament is the unofficial or official National HS Championship of sorts. The guys have been playing in this tourney for 16-20 years now. It is frustarating trying to get it together and get players to commit but after that it's a memorable trip. Kathy Fallon does a GREAT job of managing the team, they go out to eat, they went to the Twins game against the White Sox, movies,shopping things like that. Minnesota beat WI 3-0 today and will get a chance to avenge their lose to Team Illinios today at 3PM.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">
