Then Stillwater and Mahtomedi should have your number at districts.
Hope not that's why we play them right. Both really good teams got our butt kicked by Stillwater once already and Mahtomedi really scared us.
We have to get by Roseville first they have really improved.
Roseville, really? You guys are so much better than they. Take away Cece and your other top girl and you guys still beat them handily... (a tad shocked to hear you say that can you tell?..)
He's giving due credit to the next opponent I'm sure.
Roseville just went north and took 3rd in Detroit Lakes. They scored 21 in four games which is their best output of the season.
If nothing else, Roseville is well-coached and has tons of ice time in which to work on skills. Their numbers are low (only one U12 team) but there is a commitment to improve.

Feel bad for Eden Prairie having their season end in a shootout. Playoff games shouldn't be decided with a shootout.
I totally agree, a playoff game should never end in a shootout. What district decided that was a good idea? Crazy that a district can make rules like this when it comes to playoff time. I was always told the end of the season is when you need your team to play their best and pull together. A shootout takes that out of the game.
What would also be nice if all the districts had the same playoff structure. Some do a true double elimination and some do not. Some play overtime until there's a winner and some have a shootout. Not a level playing field. Seems rather simple to me, but who am I?
Some great games in the D6 districts. Shakopee is playing very well taking down both Mtka Black and Edina. Hate to see EP go down to Mtka Black in a shootout - especially after they outshot them and outplayed them the entire game.
The brackets are really interesting our district the loser of the championship game has to play the winner of the losers bracket for the 2-3 seed no need when the district is sending 3 teams. D6 is a true double elim though the #1 and #2 seeds each had to win only one game to advance. it does put an emphasis on doing well in the Regular season. Boy are regions going to be tough!

Indeed. My understanding (through following the YHH Twitter feed) is that Wayzata and Orono are waiting for your team in one Regional. Wayzata won their District with an OT victory last night.

Ideally, yes, you wouldn't have a playoff game decided by shootout. But logistically, the arena can't just block off x amount of time after the game in case they go to 3-4 overtimes. Other teams are waiting to play afterwards.

[quote="HockeyDad2015"]Have you guys figured out your goalie situation? Is your daughter playing the rest of the way? Tough game against Forest Lake tomorrow.[will find out at practice tonight]
Every meaningful game in D6 went to overtime and/or shoot out. Shows how close these teams are. Too bad one had to go home when several 15-25 teams are advancing.
A shoutout in any big game isn't ideal, but I don't hate it post-season for one reason - unless the two goalies are of widely differing talent level (unlikely at this point in the year,) I think it can be a great indicator of a teams' depth down the bench. Although the issue of a single star player getting his/her team deep into post season diffuses more at each level, tbh even the best teams are often built around a single big stats line or 2-4 big stat players. With parity amongst tenders these shootouts often go deeper than that and we see what kind of talent the teams are working with beyond the score sheet.
I think you make some very good points. If the 2 teams have played through 3 periods and 2 overtimes, the 2 teams are probably very equal. Still a shame to end your season in a shootout. I would like to see them play it out.
They used to play it out, until a 7-OT game followed by a 4-OT game to decide the ultimate champion and runner-up. Minnetonka and Edina in 2010 at U14. Epic stuff, almost 200 saves in those 2 games. No teams had to wait since these were the last two teams remaining and were positioning for seeding purposes, but some thought it was too much and the rules were changed.
Now hear you are talking about it 5 years later. "Epic" is a great word. Now we will never see that again out of this district. That is a little bit long. So really no good way to end these games.

If my memory serves me correctly, once an European Championship in soccer was decided on a coin flip. Proof results mean nothing!

"Proof results mean nothing."
????? Maybe the most ambiguous and nonsensical thing I've ever read on these boards.

Didn't think anything of but my daughter is usually the last person out of the locker room. Found out that after our last player had left the arena The coaches still had the kids in the locker room. We left the rink around 7:50 when the last parent from our team left. Thoughts?
Sorry but who played Edina Green and who won 2-1? Do the Green coaches you speak of also coach the Machine team(s) in the summer (AAA) season?
Thanks.
St. Paul I think they do.
Are there enough corners at the rinks in Italy for the parents, or did issues get resolved over a couple bottles of chianti?
