Since 85 dads are there I'm hoping for some scores and updates.

Is that 85 Minnesotans at 14u? That Futures AAA division must have 150 local girls just in that level?

Ok 200 dads. Let's get some game reports. I'll guess top MN teams will do very well.

Looks like they finished 2-2?

The website isn't the easiest to navigate

Ummm STE was in the B (consolation) playoff bracket. Maybe he was just listing those MN still in contention on Sunday (that's A bracket for Futures AAA for those following at home.) All teams ranked by points after 3 round robin games. The score only mattered if the win/tie/loss was equal. Didn't watch them but I guess my point is - do you realize you are boasting about being in the consolation bracket? Just sayin. He also didn't mention the MN team playing AA.
Who won it all?

Ntmh, first my daughter is at home in Minnesota. No boasting, as I have no dog in the fight. Just stating the fact that STE was another mn team playing in Boston. And when I wrote this morning they had only played two games on Sunday. They were in the process of playing their third game this morning at 8:20am. So yes they were still in contention at that point with the third game yet to be played.

No intention to slight the website was very hard to discern. That being said looked like all the teams did quite well. Might be fun to have a true team MN at each division and see how they would do.

All the Futures AAA teams played three games between Friday and Sat. They were ranked and divided into two brackets (A championship and B consolation) for the games that started Sunday. So, not that it matters, but STE was not "in it" on Sunday.
Congrats to the Jr. Whitecaps for winning it all!

Define "true MN team." Many teams all locals.

Have a tryout and select the best 15 skaters and 1 goalie for each level. Have MN hockey pick the teams could be the HP teams for each level.

The team that went out as Jr. Whitecaps are all (or almost all) D1 committed and prob more u18 national campers there than any other team anywhere (including this winter's gold medalists.) I would say they repped MN pretty well. Add a couple from Blades, maybe a goalie and forward from Icecats. That's team MN right there. Maybe.

It seems to me that more than 200 MN girls proved they could compete in this tourney. I'm not sure I see value in arbitrarily assigning 20 kids as a true team, when one of the teams participating won the tourney. What would additional consolidation of talent accomplish? Winning the tournament more? Winning the tournament better? I'd rather see a little parity in the MN teams, and dominate the tourney by placing all 4 semi-final teams.

Plenty of posts on other threads opining the idea that only 2 or 3 programs contain all of the talent. Doesn't this tournament prove that hundreds of MN girls can consider themselves among the best in the country? The beauty of hockey in Minnesota is that you don't have to fly all over the country to play great hockey (I'm not saying you shouldn't, just that you don't have to) - put the best 20 kids on one team, and they no longer have any local competition. It would be fantastic if those girls end up scattered on 10 or 12 different teams. Let the 'watered down' conversation begin.
